Jamaka and Kamara Sudduth, of Bridgeport, got pretty close to that dream. Jamaka, 8, and Kamara, 6, worked as extras in "Spider-Man 3," the latest film in the blockbuster superhero franchise featuring the world's favorite web-slinger. They loved getting dressed up in costume, meeting the film's star, Tobey Maguire, and being part of a real movie.

What they didn't love was wearing heavy Spider-Man costumes in the middle of June, which was when they shot their scene. "It was very hot," Jamaka said. The film, which opens today, was shot in New York, and features a number of Connecticut kids as extras.

The Sudduth girls, who make their big-screen debut in the film, were discovered last year at an event sponsored by the radio station STAR 99.9. That's where they met Arlene Colli, a New Canaan-based talent manager who specializes in children.

Colli saw the girls, and knew they had that something extra. "They were outgoing," she said. "They were happy.

They seemed well-adjusted." The Sudduth girls are two of 15 child actors in the film represented by Colli. She's also managing two children from Fairfield, Molly Feeley and Dean Martel, both 7 years old.

Jamaka and Kamara's mother, Heather Sudduth, 30, said her girls had already been modeling for a while. When the "Spider-Man" job came up, it seemed like a natural if unexpected next step for them. "It was just this last-minute thing," she said.

happened over a few days." The girls appear in a sequence in which Spider-Man receives the key to the city, and is greeted by a group of children dressed in 'Spidey' costumes including Kamara and Jamaka. The girls shot their scene over four days and, though it was fun, there were certain occupational hazards.

For one thing, it was about 90 degrees outside when the kids filmed their sequence, and they were wearing polyester Spider-Man costumes. But, despite the heat, Heather Sudduth said the girls acted like pros. "They didn't mind," she said.

Jamaka, especially, has fond memories of her moment in the spotlight. "I liked it," she said. "I got a picture taken with Tobey Maguire.

" Heather said she's not sure where the "Spider-Man" gig will lead, but reasons that "it's going to look good, at 6 and 8 years old, to have this on their resume.
