Not only to add insult to injury of what has been going on with Michael Bay's Platnium Dunes production company gearing up for a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, another director is gearing up to remake another one of Hitchcock's classics...
Vertigo. According to Joblo, director Jay Roach (director of the Austin Powers Meet the Parents movies) and writer Ken Kaufman (The Missing Curious George) will be the pair behind the remake of the 1958 classic, though as of this moment it is unclear if it will retain the title Vertigo. But no.
..this will be no 90minute long music video like every Platnium Dunes remake.
...
this remake of Vertigo will probably not only make Hitchcock turn over, but also RISE from his grave! Yes my friends..
.the remake of Vertigo will be a comedy. In this one, two party loving friends are having their fun when one kicks the bucket.
Depressed, the other finds a nerdier version of his dead friend and begins to mold him into his dead pal. Grant it the plot at the moment only really covers the last half of Hitchcock's film, but it still boils my blood that they are remaking it like this. Better to straight remake or go the route of Mel Brooks' High Anxiety and do a parody of Hitchcock?
But no...
in this day and age studios will only greenlight remakes, sequels, sequels to films from a decade or two ago...
.sorry..
..I'm ranting now.
No word on casting or anything else. I hope..
.I PRAY this thing falls apart or they strike anything involing the Master of Suspense from the film..
..if they did that I'd feel a bit better.
