*A former bodyguard for “Entourage” creator Mark Wahlberg wants to know why there aren’t any black or Latino cronies following around the show’s main character Vince Chase?
The popular HBO series is based on Wahlberg’s own early years in Hollywood, but the circle of New York-based friends surrounding his cinematic counterpart, played by Adrian Grenier, does not reflect the diversity of Wahlberg’s own Boston-based posse, according to the actor’s former bodyguard, Leonard Taylor.
"There are no black people on the show.
There are no black or Latino bodyguards, like Mark used to have - it's a slap in the face,” Taylor told the New York Post. “People always ask me, 'Why is there no character based on you in ‘Entourage?’”
A rep for the show has responded to Taylor’s accusations that the show has actively failed to include people of color.
"The show is only loosely based on Mark Wahlberg's experience,” said the publicist. “There aren't really any bodyguards, and as for being multicultural, Turtle (one of the main characters) is dating an African-American."
Turtle’s girlfriend, Kelly, is played by “ATL” actress Lauren London.
