Alicia Keys Debuts New Song at Live Earth (7/07/2007) Pete Wentz Goes Hoodie-Free at Live Earth (7/07/2007) Live Earth Rocks the Globe (7/07/2007) James Blunt Turns to '70s Rock For New Album (7/06/2007) * US Code: Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 8(d) - "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery." at 12:53AM on Jul 4th 2007 Matt P., dude seriously you need to get over yourself.
In the great scheme of things does it really matter what people wear?! There are far worse things going on the world, trust me, and ironically many of those things in the name of the very flag in discussion.
At the end of the day, its just a piece of fabric with some pretty colors, if people want to wear the design, so be it. LAURA at 12:28PM on Jul 4th 2007 Hey Laura, yeah there are far worse going on, however where are your principles and moral values? Have you served?
Do you know what it's like to defend those colors and what they mean? This isn't some dam fashion show in Paris. Gerard at 12:33PM on Jul 4th 2007 No I havent served and have no plans to.
I dont agree with Bush's war, so why would I. Its not like these people are wearing the colours to take the piss or criticize your america, so why take offense??
It is their way of showing patriotism- you should be pleased. LAURA at 12:41PM on Jul 4th 2007 The code only refers to actual flags. The people pictured did not take flags make clothes out of the flags.
These outfits were made of material that resemble the look of the flag. So the code doesn't apply, sorry Matt. dwb at 12:52PM on Jul 4th 2007 beyonce, i guess your mommy designed these outfits whatever!
! at 1:13PM on Jul 4th 2007 regrardleess of beauty of the backround, all such wearing is, IMHO, flag desicration and a crime. jAy Diggs at 1:32PM on Jul 4th 2007 "they're so apt to wrap themselves up in the stripes and stars and find that they are able to call themselves heroes and to justify murder by their fighters for freedom" Stuart at 2:22PM on Jul 4th 2007 The flag is a piece of cloth people, just like all the other flags of the world are pieces of cloth, what we are honoring is the ideals those pieces of cloth stand for.
Some displays are admittedly tacky, some are sexy, some are cool, but we are free to express ourselves in our own way, regardless of whether others approve or not- that is what the flag is about. Tim Fremstad at 2:34PM on Jul 4th 2007 It is totally disrecptfull to the American flag and to those who serve to defend the freedoms you speak of. Anyone who has served and understands the true meaning of what this flag stands for will agree.
If they don't agree then they never really understood at all didn't feel any pride in serving. The clothes may just be pieces of cloth and not actual flags, but thats not the point, its what it stands for and wearing this principal on your ass just doesnt cut it.
