Roxanne Paul and Garret Miao, both 28, were found inside an apartment in the 1700 block of West Alameda Avenue about 3 a.m. after police received calls of numerous gunshots in the area, authorities said.
The preliminary investigation indicated that Miao, who apparently had some sort of relationship with Paul, forced his way into the residence and killed her, then took his own life, Sgt. Matthew Ferguson said. "We are led to believe the shooting is a murder-suicide," he said.
Paul has two children - a boy and a girl younger than 10 - who were not harmed during the shooting, Ferguson said. Both are now in the care of relatives. David Ling, 56, who moved into a house behind the apartment just two days ago, said he heard two separate bursts of gunfire.
