It s probably a work in progress, and the major point of the redesign was to find a better way to work in links to my FanHouse work, because you know, that s where most of my weekday blogging time is spent these days.

The voting closes today for the 2006 Weblog Awards I m currently in fifth place. I d sort of like to move up, but not really.
Nothing short of a gifted hacker (and I m willing to listen to your ideas) could get me in the vicinity of or . has a pretty solid lead on me, too. I don t really know anything about that blog, but if the owner wants to fight me, we can get at it.
The only blog I could conceivably catch is , and I m in no hurry to do so. TrueHoop s a fine and invaluable site and should probably finish ahead of me.
But if you voted for me anyway, I do appreciate it.
I mean that. It s tricky to make these sorts of posts. On one hand, I would like to make you aware that this little website has been nominated for an award a in the category of , specifically.
But on the other hand, I don t want it to seem like I m begging for votes, even though, deep down, that is probably the exactly reason for this post.
I don t expect to win, and truthfully, don t deserve to. I haven t put the time in on this site that I have in the past, which is something we ve never really discussed, and I do appreciate your understanding with that.
But, you know if I have a choice between posting something here, and posting something somewhere else and getting paid for it well, the lifesize, anatomically-correct, bronze Barbaro statue I m building in my front yard isn t going to pay for itself. I wish there was time to do both things as well as I d like to do them. I don t feel good about it.

So last night, I attempted to switch up my Amazon.com links down there on the left. You know, the ones that all of you completely ignore.
And they have a new feature that automatically generates five links based on what appears on the site, the type of content here, etc. And the item at the top of the list was a DVD box set entitled The Asian Collection - 20 Full Features in One Box.
That s right.
Hardcore porno. Tera Patrick, Fujiko, Miko Lee, the whole gang even Mimi Miyagi, a name that makes me want to just punch a porno producer in the face.
That s what Amazon gets from this site.
Sigh. Now, I ll grant you I don t run the cleanest of enterprises. I embrace profanity and sexual innuendo like Joy Behar embraces Viagra jokes.
But I d like to think that I stop short of just outright pornography. I may feature some scantily-clad trim here and there, but I have boundaries. The one time I posted about , I swear, it was an honest mistake.
Edit: I could not make this up. I changed the link back to something I could customize on my own, because I didn t want to advertise porno. The Asian Collection link could not have been up there for more than five minutes.

I have had prouder days. I m not really much of a talker (as you may have noticed in the podcast) especially when it comes to talking about myself. It s just not something I enjoy.
But the fine people at wanted, for some reason, to profile me and my little web venture here. So I did an interview with them, and well, .
I do appreciate it, and I think the writer/interviewer did quite a commendable job (although he does kinda make me seem like some sort of a Salinger-esque recluse).
But again, I m just not that comfortable talking about myself, partly because I can t imagine why anyone would want to readabout me. I hope I don t come off sounding like a sanctimonious prick. If I do, feel free to hate me.

Anyway, sorry for the hiatus. I have been, as you may have guessed, ball-deep in a college basketball orgy. It s about all I ve done over the past three days.
And if I ve learned one thing, it s this: I am tired of hearing about your fucking bracket.
You are not the first person to ever fill one out. You are not special or unique.
My enjoyment of this sporting event does not hinge on how many first round matchups you won or lost.
I just don t care. I find it despicable that you re rooting for a 3-seed over 14-seed because you ve got the 3-seed winning it all.
The tournament is about upsets, it s about fun, it s about great basketball and contrasting styles and David kicking Goliath in his steroid-shrunken balls and it irks me to no end that people will root against historic upsets because of a tournament pool that they re not going to win anyway. I m sure there are those of you who feel differently.
