Wolverine takes home its first ever Polartec APEX Design Award for the versatile Pioneer jacket from the 2007 apparel line. The Pioneer, selected for Wolverine’s outstanding and innovative use of Polartec fabric, will be prominently featured in the Polartec booth at the Outdoor Retailer show, as well as throughout the year on the Web and in various marketing initiatives. “The Wolverine Pioneer jacket is an excellent example of what the Polartec APEX Design Awards are all about,” said Carol Valianti, vice president of global communications for Polartec LLC.

Wolverine has incorporated comfort and ease-of-wear details into the jacket, including no side seams and reinforced pocket openings. Winners are selected based on style, function and fit of the garment, as well as on the most innovative and appropriate uses of Polartec fabric in the designs. Polartec fabric is water repellent and provides durability and abrasion resistance.
Candidates for the awards must be made of mostly Polartec fabric for consideration. “Attention to detail is paramount to the Wolverine design team, and we are excited to be honored for that,” said Kevin Smith, Wolverine’s vice president of apparel and accessories. “The Wolverine man is adventurous and lives life full-out.
