Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is a better installment with more action than the second film released last year. I also believe that it’s the best of the trilogy movies that have been released to this point, with Spiderman 2 and Shrek The Third having already been released.
The only drawback for me is it could have been cut in length by at least 30 minutes.
There is no reason for this movie to be two hours and 45 minutes in length. My question is was there an editor that worked on this movie?
On the up side: There are tons of action, danger, suspense and humor to fill the appetite or any action film lover’s appetite.
The sets are bigger. The effects are spectacular, and the chemistry between these stars is so strong it reminds one of the cast of the Lord of the Rings, who jelled so effectively on screen.
Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and a returning Geoffrey Rush along with the addition of Chow Yun Fat are all terrific in a movie where the charm of the actor’s must come through because the script is fun, yet simplistic.
On a side note: There is the much-talked about appearance of rock legend Keith Richards that was cool as well.
The glue behind this entire franchise is Johnny Depp who reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp has taken what could have been just a supporting character in the first movie and developed it into a pop culture icon.
I just hope watching this trilogy of movies encourages film fans to check out his earlier more substantial work.
I had a fun time with this rocking adventure that should be even bigger at the box office than the first two movies. The cast, with the exception of Depp who has publicly stated he would come back for other adventures, has all said they are done with these characters.
But, don’t underestimate the power of the money truck that Disney will eventually back up to the homes of these actors to bring them all back again. Who knows what the future could hold.
This is the perfect summer blockbuster where thinking is not a priority, but having fun is.
And fun is delivered.
