Just keep telling yourself "It's only a movie!" Some people take their films too seriously. Am I looking forward to the new Batman film?
Holy re-imagining! I started collecting comic books when they were still 12¢ a copy. Batman, Detective Comics, and World's Finest were three of my favorites because they all featured the Batman.
As an eleven-year old, I enjoyed the silliness of Adam West's "Batman". I've seen the early movie matinee serial versions and really enjoyed the Tim Burton/Michael Keaton take on the Caped Crusader. I thought Nicholson was a little over the top, and believed Batman Returns was a little convoluted, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Then came Joel Schumacher who, with the aid of Jon Peters set about dismantling the franchise. I've always thought Frank Miller's "Return of the Dark Knight" saga should have been brought to the big screen, or at the very least, the character of Batman as the Dark Knight. Now, along comes wunderkind Chris Nolan, who brings the notion of Batman in the real world.
I like it!
There are many in the film geek community who have a problem with "Batman Begins" not being set in a fantasy setting. That of course, is their prerogative.
But after seeing the Batmobile and Robin on a motorcycle racing down the arm of a colossus statue, I'm glad the new film will be grounded in a little more reality. So far I've liked almost everything I've seen about the new film. Today, comes a new trailer in the best form for the internet, QUICKTIME!
Here's a link to . Christian Bale has the air of a millionaire playboy and I enjoy Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman in anything (okay, I forgot about "Bonfire of the Vanities" and "Jaws: the Revenge").
I love the look of this poster!
First reason is the choice of villains for the new movie. Ra's Al Ghul and the Scarecrow are not going to be familiar to the film going public at large. And although Bruce's impetus for becoming Batman was glanced over in a few of the previous films, this is really the first time the whole origin story has been told in such detail.
I'll be back then with my review.
Since May is Race Month in Indiana, I thought I would pull it out of mothballs.
