The 'Grey's Anatomy' way: If some is good, then way too much is better! Can we all just agree that Joe from Joe’s Bar is the nicest person on “ ”? Frankly, if he’s the focus of the show when it returns next season, that’ll be fine by me.
As usual, the “Grey’s” finale was as overstuffed as a clown car at the circus. The endless merry-go-round of the same few plots finally ended (sort of), so that was at least a relief: We finally found out whether Burke and Cristina would get married (who didn’t see it coming that they would not?), we finally found out whether Alex would make a move on his patient, Ava/Rebecca (he didn’t, not in time, anyway, which was the most believable story line of the evening) and if there was any resolution to the Izzie-George situation, please let me know — I must have missed it.
I’m officially done with Meredith and Derek, a.k.a.
McDreamy. I don’t know if it’s the actor (Patrick Dempsey) or the way they’ve written Derek, but he has been wrapped up in a frosty cloud of arrogance and condescension for some time now. Why would Meredith want to be with him?
Not that I have the energy to keep track of their endless breakups and makeups anyway. I simply don’t care about them anymore, not that they were ever my favorite part of the show.
Meredith’s no prize, either, but you have to feel at least a little sorry for a character whose mother died twice in one season (first her mother, then her stepmother).
But that’s the “Grey’s” way — if some is good, then more is better, right? And if more is better, why not way, way too much?
But the piling-on approach to “Grey’s” is wearing very thin.
Remember when the characters were at the fore of the show, not whatever melodramatic insanity they were putting themselves through?
That finale was just too much for me. Too much padding, too much repetition, too many characters forced into ridiculous situations (the chief’s wife pregnant — at age 52?
Come on!).
“Did I fail you?
” Bailey asked George at one point. No, but the writers failed Bailey this season, shoving her off into the corner while the unpleasantness of many of the major characters ruled the day.
I don’t know about you, but I need a drink at Joe’s Bar.
Finale-o-meter:
Was there gunplay? Does an ax to the skull count? Was there a death?
Yes, the Chief and his estranged wife's baby. My, how far the mighty have fallen. I was a huge fan of seasons 1 and 2, but season 3 has left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
McDreamy's not so dreamy anymore. Poor Bailey..
. how could she NOT be chief resident? I, too, am ready for a good stiff drink at Joe's Bar.
I'm in mourning for my favorite show that is no longer was it used to be.

I was wondering when you were going to write about GA. Did you read Shonda's blog on abc.
com? Very interesting. I think she knows the season was horrible.
But honestly, the finale was the best episode of the season. It redeemed, for me, a season that frankly sucked compared to the last two, which again Shonda I think realizes, but I could be wrong. I'm happy that Merder are over, although, in my opinion both characters are in serious need of therapy.
He tells her he loves her, but she pushes him away and what does she do, pushes him away. End it already will ya!!
!
As for Christina and Burke, I was upset it was over, but happy Burke let her go. I still don't get George and Izzie.
Alex is awesome, but I never really saw anything between him and Ava/rebecca, except friendship, but somehow the writers keep insisting there is more. Addison is leaving (but she'll be back after the spinoff flops..
.now watch it won't), and McSteamy better get a better storyline. Also, I liked the ending between the chief and adele.
Yeah a 52 year old getting pregnant is stretching it, but what I like is that they showed love can conquer all and that merder should take note.
Okay I need to stop because the seasons over and here's to hoping 4 is so much better than 3.

Do I remember when this show used to focus on characters? Heck, I remember when this show used to feature doctors treating PATIENTS. Remember those?
