The first 16 teams, and which players will make impacts this year. Anaheim Ducks - Andy McDonald - Andy McDonalds has had two consecutive seasons of at least 25 goals and 51 assists, which is very good numbers, McDonald should reach a new height this year even with the potential loss of Teemu Selanne, he scored 10 goals in last years playoffs and you can probably expect 35 goals and 50 assists next year. Atlanta Thrashers - Steve Rucchin - Rucchin is one of those players that will consistently get points and provide very great leadership, he is an asset on the Thrashers since they are very weak at center.
He is not a super star when it comes to the point department but he will provide 40 points consistently. Boston Bruins - Brandon Bochenski - Brandon Bochenski is one of those players that can put up decent numbers on whatever team he plays for the problem is he is usually prone to slumps. Bochenski had an amazing end to his year in Boston and I think that he has the skill to score 30 goals and put up around 60 points.
Buffalo Sabres - Ales Kotalik - Ales Kotalik scored only 16 goals after a breakout 25 goal year, the year before, the reason why Kotalik had such a change in goals is because he had no playing time, when the Sabres lost Chris Drury and Daniel Brierre both to free agency it opened up much more playing time for Kotalik, expect similar numbers to his 2006 numbers. Calgary Flames - Craig Conroy - Craig Conroy had been consistently one of the best Flames during his tenure with the team (excluding his LA year), he is a great playmaker and always seems to put up a ton of assists and he can score about 20 goals aswell, expect an assist heavy season. Carolina Hurricanes - Ray Whitney - If I asked you how many points Ray Whitney had last year, you would probably say 50 to 60 right?
, wrong, he had 83 points and earned the name as one of the most consistent players in the NHL, I am not going to be bold and say he can score 100 but with Eric Staal playing as the Eric Staal of 2006, then the Hurricanes have one of the best lines in the league. Chicago Blawkhawks - Jason Williams - Jason Williams is a very decent player as it is, he had alot of trouble when he was dealt from the Red Wings to the Blackhawks, but with new players and the return to health to others, Williams should hit the 50 point range again. Colorado Avalance - Andrew Brunette - Brunette is almost exactly like Ray Whitney, he plays on a decent team that gives him a decent shot on putting up great numbers, with the acquisition of Ryan Smyth, expect Brunettes numbers to soar even higher.
Columbus Blue Jackets - Fredrick Norrena - Norrena took over for the constantly horrendous Pascal LeClaire and ran with the number one job, when you have a winning record on Columbus you're doing something right, expect Norrena to be Columbus's best player...
Dallas Stars - Todd Fedoruk - We all remember Fedoruk as that guy that went down hard after getting punched in the face by New York Rangers forward Colton Orr, The reason why Fedoruk will fit in perfectly with the Stars is because Fedoruk will give the Stars much needed grit and can put in almost 30 points. Detroit Red Wings - Chris Osgood - Im not sure that he will make an imediate impact but with Dominik Hasek as your goaltender you know that you're going to get some sort of playing time, expect Osgood to play about 35 games, even more if Hasek gets hurt, and the best part about Osgood if he plays 35 games he will win near 25. Edmonton Oilers - Dick Tarnstrom - Tarnstrom was formerly a 52 point scorer with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he is strictly an offensive defenseman but he has the skills to put up an assist heavy season for the Oilers, probably will be close to Souray in the number of points (not goals though).
Florida Panthers - Brett McLean - Brett McLean was valued by the Avalance for his consistency, he put up 35 to 40 points over his last two season, he is a very good two way player who can give you about 15 goals and about 30 assists, expect a breakout season. Los Angeles Kings - Ladislav Nagy - He was very good previous to last season, and the Kings got him at a bargain price, he has the potential for 80-90 points and at less then 2 million a year it seems like a steal, expect almost instant chemistry between him and Mike Cammaleri. Minnesota Wild - Eric Belanger - Belanger is a very good overall player he can score goals and put up numbers but he also plays a very good defensive game, he will fit perfectly into the Wilds plans, with his all around defensive game.
Montreal Canadiens - Andrei Kostitsyn - Kostitsyn was impressive during the end of the year with the Canadiens, he played really well on the second line and should score around 45 points, but in the future he should relish on a line with his brother Sergei. those are my first 16, the next 14 will be out on a later date. thanks for reading Reply to this entry | Back to The Most Amazing.
