THE streets of Sydney may soon receive a spruce-up with semi-professional cleaner and supermodel Naomi Campbell tipped to come to the city in September. The reformed phone thrower, who found sweeping therapeutic'' during her recent court-ordered community service, is rumoured to be coming Down Under to take part in an event being pushed to rival Sydney's ailing Fashion Week. And who better to strut down the runway for the Australian Consolidated Press-organised event called 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty than the undisputed Queen of the catwalk, Naomi.
It will be a far cry from her visit to Australia in October when revealed the 36-year-old beauty was holed up for a month at The Sanctuary in Suffolk Park, just south of Byron Bay, where she was attending a variety of wellness'' classes. The supermodel, whose battle with cocaine has been widely publicised, told a journalist in March that she was now clean and sober and attending daily Narcotics Anonymous meetings to beat a drug addiction that started when she was 25. Strangely, the home of gossip magazines is tight-lipped and won't confirm officially whether Campbell will be in Australia to promote the event.
The 30 Days Of Fashion And Beauty has been sold to potential advertisers as a range of promotional events, tied in with the stable's fashion titles, encompassing Shop Til You Drop, Harper's Bazaar, Madison and Cleo. WHILE Sydney is adjusting to high-waisted jeans for winter, fashionistas are bracing themselves for a shock. Local label 18th Amendment has released the Davis denim short on the market, which resembles high-waisted culottes.
Culotte was a word consigned to the fashion wasteland - along with slacks - but the hip brand is bringing the not-so-trendy term back. Trend-setter and part-time actress Mischa Barton has already been spotted wearing the Davis shorts. TRY telling anyone a decade ago that Fast Forward star Eric Bana would become an international pin-up.
Since tickling funny bones as Poida and a rip-off Ray Martin, Bana has had the last laugh, having worked with directors Steven Spielberg, Ang Lee and Richard Roxburgh in Romulus, My Father. For his latest role in an exhibition for Tag Heuer watches, Bana didn't have to get into character. The exhibition opens in France on Tuesday to celebrate the launch of a new collection of watches that start at a whopping $4000.
It features celebrities known for their leadfoot prowess. The Australian actor has been photographed with a Porsche, but in his portrait makes do with the new Grand Carrera watch. What is this?
