*Looks like Nick Cannon, our favorite nerdy-boy actor, is coming up in the acting world.
STUDIO Magazine/Chopard Revelation Awards, one of the four official events of the Cannes Film Festival presented Cannon with the prestigious "Breakthrough Actor of the Year Award" for his groundbreaking work in the critically acclaimed film "BOBBY," directed by Emilio Estevez.
This marks the first time in the festival's history that an African American Actor has received such an honor.
Cannon is sharing this award with actor, James McAvoy for his performance in the "Last King of Scotland."
The award was presented to the 26-year old San Diego native at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes, France by the award show's co-president and actor, Jude Law.
"I am humbled and grateful to have received such a coveted award by STUDIO Magazine and Chopard at this prestigious event at the Cannes Film Festival" said Cannon.
"It was a great privilege to have been a part of the amazing ensemble cast of "BOBBY" and now, to be recognized amongst such tremendous talents as Evan Rachel and James is truly an honor."
Also honored was actress, Evan Rachel Wood with the "Breakthrough Actress of the Year Award."
Cannon jumpstarted his career as a professional comedian at the young age of 15.
He quickly became the youngest executive producer in Nickelodeon's history by creating the network hit "The Nick Cannon Show". Soon after, he made his feature film debut starring in 20th Century Fox's "Drumline". Nick then went on to create/star/executive produce "Wild N' Out" for MTV.
The hugely successful show just wrapped 20 episodes of its 4th season. In the fall of '06 Cannon signed a 'first-look' television production deal with MTV (The largest talent/producer deal in MTV's history). In the feature film arena, he has concluded a similar deal with Lion's Gate Films.
