If there was one thing that got football video game fans more riled up than Ray Lewis before a big game, it was when EA Sports and the NFL formed an exclusive licensing agreement, thus ending years of competition that kept making all of the football video games better over the past 10 or so years.
Fortunately for us football video game fans, EA Sports delivered.
The biggest difference this year is the new quarterback vision system (which can be turned off, if you so desire).

You can officially wave good-bye to the Temco Super Bowl days of dropping your quarterback all the way into the end zone and launching a hail mary into the hands of an able-bodied receiver. Defenders can now read your line of sight and make adjustments, thus making it a much more challenging - and fun - passing game.
The Superstar mode is also equally impressive.

The ability to create a player and send him on his way through a career in the NFL is really cool. You can hire and fire your agent (especially if his name rhymes with Drew Rosenhaus ) and even get movie deals (just like Bret Favre in 'There's Something About Mary').
Auspicioulsly missing from this version of Madden is the drug testing -- so you can keep your whizzinators dry.

The best feature, in my opinion, is the online gameplay. There is nothing like the rush you get playing real people online from around the country - especially when you stuff a big run or drop a 40 yard bomb on someone. The best part of the new online gameplay?

EA Sports has made it so it's really difficult to tell that you are even playing online! I experienced little to no lag in my connection, which translated into an awesome experience.
Overall, the gameplay is much better than in years past.

The graphics are top-notch, down to even the most miniscule blade of grass. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Madden NFL 2006 is definitely a MUST BUY for the football fan on your list this Christmas!
