Renee Zellweger stars as Beatrix Potter, an independent woman years ahead of her time. Beatrix loves animals, drawing, and writing fantastical tales of her furry and feathered friends, but she's discouraged from pursuing her talents by her parents. Fortunately, a publishing firm finds her children's stories worth printing with one member of the firm, Norman Warne (Ewan McGregor), particularly supportive of her tales.
Under Norman's nurturing friendship and love, Beatrix blossoms as an artist and as a woman. Director Chris Noonan provides an in-depth look behind the scenes in his commentary track. Noonan explains how the production was able to use the real locations for important scenes, and how his cast lived up to the task of bringing Beatrix Potter to life on the screen.
Although a little dry, Noonan's commentary does provide enough interesting gems of info that it's worth listening to after viewing the feature film. The 'Tale of Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter' featurette allows viewers the opportunity to learn more about the author's life and family. 'The Making of a Real-Life Fairy Tale' is a behind the scenes look at the production featuring interviews with the cast.
