Email to a friend | Print Friendly *While Kimora Lee Simmons is running around town with actor Djimon Hounsou, her ex-husband Russell Simmons has been spotted lately with 23-year-old model , perhaps best known from her run on the resurrected “Star Search” in 2003. The couple popped up on the red carpet of last week’s NY premiere of Michael Moore’s “Sicko,” and again last weekend at the Love Heals gala at Luna Farm in Sagaponack, Long Island.
*”The Tonight Show’s” Kevin Eubanks is the male winner of this year’s "World's Sexiest Vegetarian," a poll taken annually by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Eubanks, 49, surged way ahead of the competition with help from “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno, who encouraged viewers to vote for Eubanks and "bring honor" to the late-night NBC talk show. “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood won the women’s title.
Runners-up in the contest, which the animal rights group said drew more than 110,000 votes on its Web site, included Joaquin Phoenix, Milo Ventimiglia, Kristen Bell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jared Leto and Lisa Edelstein. the MGs and Jesse Jackson are among the participants in an upcoming PBS documentary, "Respect Yourself: The Stax Records Story," due to air Aug. 1 with home movies, concert performances and behind-the-scenes footage from some of the legendary labels' artists.
The film tracks the Memphis soul label's birth in 1957 and major events through its dismantling in 1975. Sam Moore, Elvis Costello, Eddie Floyd, Carla and Rufus Thomas, Albert King and other admirers and label acts also detail their own thoughts about Stax. *BET Networks, in partnership with the Kaiser Family Foundation, continues its plan to televise special programming to coincide with National HIV Testing Day.
Today at 12 p.m. and 12 a.
m., BET J offers a special HIV-themed broadcast of its original show “My Two Cents,” a program featuring a panel of prominent African-American celebrities, activists and social critics. BET J follows up Thursday (6/28) at 11 a.
m. and 12 a.m.
