Although Steve Austin traveled to the other side of the world to shoot his first starring role in a feature film, the former professional wrestler (best known with "Stone Cold" preceding his name) also stayed close to home. His new movie, "The Condemned," was produced by the film arm of World Wrestling Entertainment, with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon as an executive producer. "Rollin' into Australia, although I was in front of the cast and people like that I'd never met, it was a deal where I felt completely at home because it was a WWE project and financed by Vince with WWE Films," says Austin.

Austin, 42, had played a detective in a few episodes of the now-defunct CBS show "Nash Bridges," but his only film endeavor before "The Condemned" was playing a prison guard in the Adam Sandler action-comedy "The Longest Yard." In "The Condemned," Austin plays Jack Conrad, an American on death row in El Salvador. Jack, along with nine other convicted murderers, is "purchased" by an unscrupulous TV producer who forces the 10 into a reality show.
