Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star The First Blog of 2007

The First Blog of 2007 And so my life gathers momentum and time passes noticeably quicker - it's 2007. I saw in the new year with my family and Tom Brown. I was supposed to be in a few places but ended up going nowhere, owing to general not wellness and partially lack of transportation.

It was a good night though, us Watsons get rowdy when there's an occasion (and we can drink enough to sink a few battleships these days). We watched Wayne's World for a bit (how fucking awesome is that film? 1992 as well.

Can you believe it?) and then at 11.30 watched the countdown on BBC1 with natasha kaplinsky and that tramp dude in a white suit.

Straight after the countdown, we took a group photo (see photos) and then did a few combination shots, to mark the event. I hadn't even straightened my hair or put any make up on, I've got cold sores and I'm deathly pale (although, what's new) so I knew I looked shit, but just couldn't be arsed. I am what I am!

Anyway, we polished off a few bottles of champagne and got a bit giddy, so I got singstar out, which went down a treat. See the video of pops and Johnny singing here. It was ace.

We sang until 4am, Phil threw a bit of a wobbler because he kept losing to John! It's so cute, Gringo our cat (also known as Mr Grings or Mr Blings) really likes Tom! Last night, he wined to get into our room and then planted himself on top of Tom Brown, and curled up to go to sleep.

Those of you who know Mr Grings know what a stuck up, generally anti-social cat he is. He ended up sleeping in between Tom and I like a little child! So cute.

We declared our resolutions to each other before we went to bed. Mine, as you all know, is to abstain from alcohol for a year (I've even changed my myspace profile to reflect this). Tom Brown's is to carry on going to the gym and get rid of the beer belly (which I actually like, but anyway).

Johnny's was to 'get buff' or something to that effect. Ryan's is to feed the fish every day for a year (sometimes he gets forgotten, and Ryan hardly ever does it). Pop's was to learn spanish and learn how to play the guitar: 'I'm 45 now.

.. I keep putting it off.

But this year, I'm going to do it. I might not be that good, but I'm going to do it. And on NYE next year, I'll play you a tune and introduce it in Spanish.

' Go pops! This year I have a few more goals; again, things I probably should have done in years past but for whatever reason, haven't. One is to go back to Cumbria and visit all of my old friends there - even just to honour the fact that once, we were essential parts of each other's lives, even though we aren't any longer.

Another is to visit Curt in Glasgow, even if it's only for the day. This year I'm definitely going to visit Ben with Nipa and see his band in Leicester - yes maybe we are madly in love with him but we're adults and can behave ourselves as well. This year I'm going to pass my driving test and get a little car to run around in - this will make all the previously mentioned goals a lot easier!

Last year's resolution was to obtain a perfect bottom (to be achieved via the lateral thigh trainer) but I kind of didn't manage that one. My bottom isn't awful though; it hasn't got any worse at any rate, so I'll say I'm still working on that one. I also vowed to try and not slag people off behind their backs, and that if I've anything to say, I'll say it to them or declare it freely.

I think that because I'm only friends with people I like this year, it hasn't been hard for me. I haven't pretended to be friends with people like I might have done when I was younger - it isn't worth suffering fools when I have the few awesome jewels of friends around me. It was a bit of a hectic 2006 for me.

People came, and went. Broken hearts and scandal, followed by a new direction..

. I think 2007 will see a wiser, calmer Gem. Putting one optimistic foot in front of the other, having a bit more conviction in my decisions, and trying in everything I do to make myself and everyone around me happier.
