Hugh Grant has yet to spill the beans about an alleged run-in with a paparazzo, but the police have been called in to investigate. The "About a Boy" actor was arrested in London for allegedly attacking and throwing a container of baked beans at a photographer, reports People. "Kensington CID [Criminal Investigation Department] launched an investigation about an alleged assault on a 43-year-old man following an incident .

.. on the 24th of April at about 10 a.

m.," says a Metropolitan Police representative. "At 7:30 p.

m. a 46-year-old man was arrested in connection with the inquiry and taken to a central London police station. He has been bailed to return on a date in May pending further inquiries.

" Grant, 46, is presumably the attacker in question. Protocol dictates that the person not be identified unless he is charged with a crime. On Tuesday, April 24, photographers Ian Whittaker, 43, and Darren Goff, 37, reportedly spotted Grant arriving home and approached him, asking for a photo.

"Hugh just went off his head. He walked menacingly past me and chased Ian," says Goff. The actor then "got a container of food, it was like Tupperware, and threw it at Ian.

It sprayed everywhere and beans ended up in my hair too." Whittaker told the UK's Daily Star that Grant kicked him first, leaving him "bruised, battered and covered in baked beans." Photos in the tabloid showed the actor raising a plastic food container over his head.

Grant recently played a has-been pop composer in "Music and Lyrics" opposite Drew Barrymore. His film credits include "Four Weddings and Funeral," "Nine Months," "Sense and Sensibility," "Notting Hill," the "Bridget Jones" films and "Love Actually.
