Vice President Al Gore and actress Cameron Diaz want to see what people can do to save the Earth in 60 seconds or 30 or even 15. Gore and Diaz announced ":60 Seconds to Save the Earth" during Saturday's Love Earth concert in East Rutherford, N.H.

The contest challenges viewers in the United States, Britain and the Republic of Ireland to create 15-, 30- or 60-second public service announcements about taking action or motivating change to help fight the climate crisis, said sponsor Current TV, the cable and satellite TV station Gore leads. "(We) are asking young adults to take a stance and use their creative voices to encourage change and help fight the climate crisis," Gore said. A sample PSA will be posted on Current TV's Web site.

Contest rules and details and information on submitting an ecospot, participants should visit the Current TV's Web site. Submissions are due by Sept. A panel of environmental activists and advertising gurus will select 20 finalists.

Current's online members will vote for their favorite ecospots. The winners will be announced on Nov. The winning spot will part of the Alliance for Climate Protection's national campaign.
