Fierstein will supply the book for the show and Bucchino the score. John Doyle, who directed the recent Broadway revivals of Stephen Sondheim's Company and Sweeney Todd, will direct. The Broadway theater and New York opening date will be announced.

The plot concerns a couple who must decide whether to spend their life savings on a lavish party for their daughter's wedding or on the family business. The bride-to-be will be played by Leslie Kritzer, who won a 2007 Clarence Derwent Award - given each year by Actors' Equity to promising performers - for her work in Legally Blonde. A Catered Affair is based on a teleplay by Paddy Chayefsky and a 1956 movie which starred Bette Davis, Ernest Borgnine, Debbie Reynolds and Barry Fitzgerald.

Fierstein will supply the book for the show and Bucchino the score.
