Eight more stills from ' Spanish-Argentine-Swedish horror movie The Appeared (Aparecidos) have been added to the page for the movie on GOMORRAHY.com.
As was previously reported and on Twitch, the screenplay for The Appeared was written by Cabezas.

The movie stars as Malena, and as Pablo.
Here's a synopsis for The Appeared from the production: "A road movie of terror. A trip to the dark side of the human soul.

One night Malena and Pablo, a sister and brother travelling together in Argentina, discover a diary that details crimes committed twenty years ago. That same night, the past and present intertwine; before the siblings' helpless eyes, a family is persecuted, tortured, and murdered step-by-step in the manner described in the diary. The siblings' trip becomes a nightmare, in which they don't know if the people whom they're trying to save are real.

.. or manifestations of something that occurred twenty years ago.

Following the trail of 'the disappeared', they discover that, beyond the fiction, the true horror is hidden in the reality: 30 000 people were kidnapped, tortured, and murdered under Argentina's military dictatorship. The people forget, but the pain, as a physical presence, lives on."
As was previously reported and on Twitch, the screenplay for Director's Cut was written by Findling and Pablo Monlezun.

The movie apparently starred Andres Bagg (he also starred in Sergio Esquenazi's , and stars in Albert Pyun's upcoming - which Findling was a co-producer of), Daniel Young, Rosario Mejia, Ginger Gentile, Javier Gorleri, Ezequiel Campa, Mariana Levy, Maxime Segué, Verónica Mari, Pablo Guelli Saavedra, Paula Marcenado, and Federico Ali.
Here's a synopsis for Director's Cut from the website of the : "Matt's crew attends the first viewing of his horror film excited by his capacity to frighten the audience. Yet, as the film has scenes they never shot, deaths they never filmed, they begin to realize what they are seeing is not a movie but reality.

They have 90 minutes to escape or they will be as dead as the cast of the film."
As was previously reported and on Twitch, the screenplay for Live Evil was written by Woelfel, apparently based on a story by , Lenny Lenox, and . The movie stars (listed order corresponds to order on cast page of official website) Tim Thomerson (he's also in Harry Basil's and Michael Paloma's ), (he's also in Gregg Simon's and Mauro Borrelli's ), Osa Wallander (a.

k.a. Åsa Wallander; she's also in Randy Greif's ), , , , (she's also in Jeff Leroy's ), , Kevin Bangos, , Dalton O'Dell, , , , Lee Perkins, , , , David Ament, Jim Terry, Sue Terry, , Dan Gidez, Dan Glenn, Cassie Courtland, , , and Mike Meadows.

is also in the movie.
Here's a synopsis for Live Evil from the official website for the movie: "A Hunter dressed in black. This cowboy-hat-wearing, samurai-sword-wielding Priest (Tim Thomerson) is on a quest for blood.

Vampire blood. He's out for revenge on a 'clique' of four vampires who are traveling across country in search of 'pure blood'. The human blood stream has become polluted by drugs, alcohol, AIDS, diabetes, anti-depressants, cigarettes - anything that changes the blood even a small amount makes it undrinkable for vampires, who, like hi-performance automobiles, need 'hi test' fuel = blood in order to survive.

This has started a sort of underground civil war between various groups of vampires, and vampires themselves have mutated due to the pollution of their life blood. 'Live Evil' is what is written on playing cards left behind on the bodies of dead vampires that this mysterious Priest/Hunter leaves in his wake as he gets closer and closer to our main group of vampires."
John-Woo-frames.

jpgIt seems that you cannot turn around these days without bumping into a video game cum movie project being announced. Granted, the video game industry is outselling the movie industry annually so I guess you have to do something to get bums in seats. Regrettebly, it makes sense.

So here is the video game cum movie project of the day.
HK director John Woo will team with video game creator Warren Spector to create a new property titled 'Ninja Gold'. Woo will direct the film.

Spector will create the game. There is no script but they hope to start production next year. Fox Atomic will jump into the fray and help with the project, "Ninja Gold" is "rich in mythology and perfect for John's unique visual style," said Fox Atomic president of production Debbie Liebling.

TeamXBoxWoo came up with the idea of a group of ninjas that are part of a centuries-old legacy and bloodline and now are forced to confront the reality of covert warfare in the modern world.
"The game concept is actually based on facts that the Yakuza and the Russian mob are involved in tons of gold being stolen in South Africa," said Terrence Chang, Woo's production partner, to Reuters.
Spector, the creator of Deus Ex and Thief, explained that "the idea actually started with John Woo.

He wanted to do something involving traditional ninjas in a modern-day setting, and the idea just resonated with me. I was intrigued with the idea of what happens when the traditional and the contemporary come into conflict."
I will say that I'm jazzed about the ninjas.

I just finished the entire season of Sonny Chiba's Shadow Warriors, review to follow soon, so I'm a little loopy about ninjas these days.
Donnie-Yen-Flashpoint.jpgWhile Alexi Tan's Blood Brothers -see below - will be the film to get the old school heroic bloodshed crowd all worked up into a knot it's Wilson Yip's Flashpoint - the film that began life as a sequel to SPL before moving in another direction - that'll do the same for the straight up action and martial arts crowd.

I've seena lot of promo footage from this and it's positively jaw-dropping and anyone who criticized SPL for not having enough fighting will not be able to say the same about this one.
Anyway. Trailer.

There's a new one. And it's good.
Thanks to Ulrik for pointing it out.

bloodbrotherssmall.jpgOh, my. I would say Hong Kong is back but this was made in Taiwan.

But wherever it was made Alexi Tan - along with Susie Au and her very impressive debut Ming Ming - has just given me hope that some new blood may finally be rising in the Chinese speaking film world.
Tan's feature debut, Blood Brothers has been the subject of much speculation for quite a while now, with early reports suggesting that it was a loose remake of John Woo's Bullet in the Head, speculation no doubt fueled by the fact that Woo served as a producer on this. But no, I've been assured this is not the case.

Blood Brothers is a film inspired by that era, a film that set out to capture the energy, power and epic scope of those old Hong Kong heroic bloodshed pictures and if he's even close to sustaining what's in the trailer over the course of the full picture then Tan has done exactly that. There are more iconinc images in this trailer than some directors produce over a career, it's simply gorgeous stuff.
Yes, the trailer.

An early rough version of a trailer for the picture was leaked to Sina some time back, a version that didn't include full audio and also featured some shots with unfinished post production on the visuals. This is the first full, complete trailer. It was passed to us somewhat under the table so while I think we're going to be okay hosting this here it is certainly a possibility that we'll be asked to take it down.

So move quickly. Along with the trailer we've also got four new stills from the picture. And you can read on for what details of the film were spilled when it was picked up for international sale by Fortissimo.

enter_the_phoenix.jpgLate to the show on the remake front is Stephen Fung's debut film Enter the Phoenix, the action comedy of mistaken identity and double deceptions. It's only been three years since its debut in HK cinemas, better late than never I guess.

Andrew R. Tennenbaum, poducer of the Bourne series, will produce the remake after acquiring the remake rights from Jackie Chan's JCE Movies, who have been fostering Fung and his directorial career.
Tennenbaum will begin to look for a scripter and director.

"Stephen tells a great story and has a terrific sense of humor. This movie should be remade for a bigger, broader audience," Tennenbaum said. Does that mean they're going to downplay or expand on the fact that in Stephen's original film the triad boss' son is gay?

Cause that's the only plot point that I can see some groups in the movie-watching demographic having problems with.
It makes for an interesting choice of remakes. So what will it be?

Boston gang boss is dying. His son lives in San Francisco. 'Come back and take over the family,' they say.

Oh well, what can you do? I just wish Fung was a bit more active over in Hong Kong. It will be three years between House of Fury and Jump.

Twenty more stills from ' Frontier(s) (Frontières) have been added to the page for the movie on GOMORRAHY.com. (There still are three teaser trailers for the movie on that page.

)
, which plans to release Frontier(s) theatrically in France later this year, is the international sales agent for it. has acquired U.K.

distribution rights for it; has acquired German distribution rights for it.
The screenplay for Frontier(s) was written by Gens. The movie apparently stars Karina Testa, Samuel Le Bihan, Maud Forget, Estelle Lefébure, David Saracino, Patrick Ligardes, Amélie Daure, Chems Dahmani, Aurélien Wiik, Adel Bencherif, Jean-Pierre Jorris, and Joël Lefrançois.

Here's a synopsis for Frontier(s) from the production: "While an extreme right-wing candidate advances to the second ballot of the presidential election, a group of young armed robbers holes up in a backwoods inn. The inn is located in an old mining wasteland, and its managers are a particularly sordid lot [to wit, (neo-)Nazi cannibals]."

MANSJOB.jpgThe latest picture from the company that produced Jade Warrior, Man's Job looks to be one hard piece of dramatic work from Finland.

The beautiful cinematography offsets one hell of a depressing story about a married father of three forced to turn to a life as a male escort to support his family.

Feeling ashamed about his failure and worried about his wife’s mental health, Juha decides to keep the fact that he got fired a secret. He spends his days on a remote service station thinking about a way out and the growing web of lies that he is slowly weaving.

Soon the desperate Juha finds himself, completely naked, brushing the hair of a woman he has never met before. He also finds himself earning in two hours what he used two earn in two days at his old job. With the help of his friend Olli, Juha, the father of three small children, begins to sell his body in earnest.

Juha’s shame and lies grow, but the money helps him cope with the downside of his new profession. And as long as wife Katja doesn’t touch her antidepressants, everything is fine.

Ekko1small.

jpgAfter raising eyebrows worldwide with his vitriolic, anti-porn animated feature Princess director Anders Morgenthaler opted to move into the world of live action film, casting Kim Bodnia as the lead in Ekko.
Simon is a police officer who recently lost custody of his six-year old son in a divorce. In desperation, he abducts his son and takes him to the country where they hide out in a vacated summerhouse.

Simon wants to spend one last holiday alone with his son, but their week together brings back a nightmare from his own childhood, reviving bad memories, and soon the ghosts from his past threaten to drive Simon mad.

Still got an edge to him, then, and we've just gotten our hands on the first released stills from the film. Read on!

damn_bastard_web01.jpgThe official website for Javi Camino's Damn Bastard! (¡Maldito Bastardo!

Damn Bastard!

is based on Camino's short "La consulta del Dr. Natalio". It stars (listed order corresponds to trailer order) Juanillo Esteban, Pilar Miguélez, Carmela López, Tamar Novas, David Balado, and Laura Sañudo.

Here's a description of Damn Bastard! from the official website for the movie: "Maldito Bastardo is a gut-devouring virus. Maldito Bastardo is a human distill.

snuff_102_dvd.

jpgOn the left is the DVD front cover art for Mariano Peralta's horrAR (i.e., Argentine horror) movie Snuff 102.

The movie had its world première at the (Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata) in Argentina on March 9th.
As was previously reported on Twitch, the screenplay for Snuff 102 was written by Peralta. The movie stars Yamila Greco, Andrea Alfonso, Silvia Paz, Eduardo Poli, Rodrigo Bianco, and Salvador Haidar.

Here's a description of Snuff 102 from the Mar del Plata International Film Festival website: "In an empty room, three women are being cruelly and ruthlessly tortured. In another time and place, a woman interviews a film critic about the violence of images and its real meaning. Strange facts begin to relate both situations in a hidden manner.

¶ The director tells he came up with this story at the waiting-room of a public hospital while standing in line for hours to get an appointment. 'I had the feeling that we were all merely numbers and that nobody had any real entity; we were just that..

. numbers.' ¶ Long-awaited come-back of Tetard troupe whose previous movie, Super Mondo Trasho: Unleashed!

, became the banner of local under-culture causing a commotion during the twenty-first edition of the Festival; Snuff 102 promises to be even more scandalous in its combination of extreme violence and low budget. Unsuited for people with a heart condition."
the_tattooist_pi03.

jpgThe official website for Peter Burger's The Tattooist is now functional, and on that site is a larger version of the trailer for the movie than the one on .
The screenplay for The Tattooist was written by and , based on an idea by Vela Manusaute. The movie stars Jason Behr as Jake Sawyer, as Sina, David Fane as Aleki Va'a, Robbie Magasiva as Alipati, Caroline Cheong as Victoria, and as Crash.

Here's a description of The Tattooist from the official website for the movie: "American tattoo artist Jake Sawyer (Jason Behr) explores and exploits ethnic designs from around the world. At a tattoo expo in Singapore, he glimpses the exotic world of traditional Samoan tatau in the work of the fiercely proud Alipati (Robbie Magasiva). Fatefully, Jake is attracted to Alipati's beautiful cousin, Sina (Mia Blake).

¶ When Jake impulsively steals an ancient Samoan tattooing tool, he unwittingly unleashes a powerful angry spirit. Suddenly, his art takes on a frightening new dimension, exposing everyone he touches, including the feisty Singaporean Victoria (Caroline Cheong), to mortal peril. ¶ Sensing the solution can only lie with the Samoans, Jake follows them to Auckland, where he runs into an old adversary, tattoo artist Crash (Michael Hurst) and a new one, the respected Samoan elder Aleki Va'a (David Fane).

¶ His investigation takes him on a devastating journey into the dark heart of Pacific mysticism. There, Jake must recover his own soul if he is to save the woman he loves and escape with his life. ¶ THE TATTOOIST is a supernatural thriller, made by Singaporean and New Zealand co-production partners.

The story centres on Samoan spiritual beliefs, in which the barrier between our world and the spirit world is very thin, leading events in one to have serious and chilling repercussions in the other."

transharmonicpostersmall.jpg[This will be parked up at the top of the page for the next twelve hours or so with new material following below. What can I say .

.. I'm rather fond of it .

..]
Please, god, let this film get made.

Ask me what the high point of Cannes 2007 was for me and the answer will come quickly. It wasn't meeting Pen-Ek Ratanaruang. It wasn't any of the amazing films I saw.

Nope. The high point came when Spanish producer Cormac Regan - yep, a Spaniard with an incredibly Irish name - dropped this bomb on me.
Transharmonic Nights is a nw feature film in development right now that fuses the unique worlds and manic creativity of directors Cesar Velasco Broca and Nacho Vigalondo, both of whom are enormous favorites here in Twitch-land.

The two are great friends, working together frequently, and this particular project is a romantic science fiction feature which Vigalondo wrote for Velasco Broca to direct.
Here's the pitch. We begin in the afterlife.

Since everybody has a different concept of what paradise should be the god of the universe - in this case a giant octopus-monster - has decided that everyone will get to choose their own paradise at the moment of their death and live in that paradise for all eternity. Our hero has chosen a very simple moment: one day years ago, while sitting at the side of a forest road a young woman rode her motorcycle past him; their eyes met; they felt a moment of connection; she continued on her way and they never met again. He loves the moment for its simplicity, for its self contained perfection, and so he lives that moment over and over again.

Until, one day, the girl fails to crest the hill and in her place comes a swarm of rampaging aliens, ray guns a-blazing. You see, the alien horde's idea of paradise is to destroy everybody else's paradise. Our hero escapes and somehow manages to contact the octopus-god to learn what has gone wrong.

There he is told that if he can find the girl and recreate the scene exactly as it happened everything will be restored as it was. And so he sets of on his quest ..

.
Brilliant, no? We've gotten our hands on an extensive gallery of storyboards, plus the film's lovingly hand painted teaser poster for you to take a gander at.

But beware! Some of these images may constitute spoilers. Continue at your own risk .
