PHOTOS of Australian actress Cate Blanchett looking painfully thin have been splashed in British newspapers, raising questions over her health.
Blanchett's shoulders looked bony and her collarbones appeared prominent under her gold tassel halter-neck gown in pictures taken as she walked along the red carpet for a gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Daily Mail ran the photo on page three with the headline: Cate, you're looking a bit thin on glamour with an inset picture of Blanchett looking much less gaunt.

The paper quoted an unnamed observer as saying Blanchett's hair-do was also cause for concern.
More worryingly, her hair, which had been piled up into a bun, looked thin and wispy ndash; often a sign of dramatic weight loss, the observer reportedly said.
Perhaps it was just an unfortunate trick of the light, but her shoulders and chest were all bony while her collarbones looked really prominent.

.
Commuter publication Metro, part of the Daily Mail group, also ran the picture with the headline: Health fears for `skinny' Cate and suggested there were concerns she had become part of the `Size Zero' debate which has been the subject of fierce controversy in European fashion circles.
Some reports attributed Blanchett's look to a new film role as a breast cancer sufferer in Cancer Vixen, which is based on U.

S. author Marisa Acocella Marchetto's battle with the disease.
Blanchett's Australian management, RGM Associates, did not return calls.
