  • So, it looks like none other than Sacha Baron Cohen will be in the forthcoming Queen biopic. Sacha loves the idea he can get away with playing Freddie after modeling Borat s look on him, said a source close to the project.
  • First recruited Scarlett Johannson for his sensuous now has scored his own It-girl young actress for his new video.

Natalie Portman will apparently star in the video for McCartney s first single off his new album Memory Almost Full.

  • on his current tour after he and encountered what he called racist employees at the House of Blues. We came to the club, all excited, Nas said.

[We] go to the venue and they ain t let me in. I was outside with my wife and they treated us like terrorists. It was a little racist and we just don t tolerate that.

I just want everybody to know, don t tolerate any form of racism.

  • will be today stemming from her last week in L.A.

  • In other arrest-related news, was apparently driving a when he was pulled over yesterday for having overly tinted windows, then because police smelled alcohol on his breath. He s due back in court next week to deal with the charges.
All the buzz that Sacha Baron Cohen has created with his Borat character and he can t be taken seriously?

Most of the public appearances that he has made, have been in character. We don t know what Sacha is really like. We don t know all that he is capable of.

I know that it was a comedian playing another comedian, but look at Jim Carrey. Ace Ventura, Lloyd Christmas the guy played some goofy characters. Then, he took on the role of playing Andy Kaufman and let me tell ya that entire movie, I felt like I was watching Kaufman, not Carrey.

Does it ever occur to anyone that maybe we re reading WAY too into movies?
I mean, who cares if Cohen is going to play Freddie Mercury? Give him a chance to try it out, and THEN judge his performance.

Freddie was great and all, but Cohen doesn t have to eat like him, sing like him or %^ $ like him. He only has to act like him, on-screen, and that s his job. Any singing will be overdubbed, like in any movie, and he ll have plenty of references and info to get into the character while filming.

Talents aside - Freddy wasn t traditionally attractive .. But damn he was SLEEK!

ONLY 3 THINGS - GUITARS, CORVETTES, and FRICKIN FREDDY MERCURY, could possibly be so Masculine -and- Feminine at the same time.
    IN YOUR FACE, SLICK-ANGST SWAGGER
Nothing personal Sacha you re a bit of a gump compared to Mr. Mercury (Anyone is)
Pull this off and “I ll be singing” you praise for years to come.

    Good Luck.
Sascha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury is probably one of the worst casting choices I ve ever heard.
While Cohen has the look, he does not have the flair, the style or even a hint of singing training.

I wouldn t even consider Depp.
Hell, no one can pull off Freddie Mercury as well as Freddie Mercury can.
    So, no.

Johhny Depp was another contender for the Queen biopic, but surviving Queen band-members apparently warmed to Sacha because of his pyshical similarities to Freddie.
Borat is not the be-all end-all of Sacha s talents: he has a great sense of timing and comedic situations (similar to Aussie Barry Humphries). For all those who say he can t act: he s a comedic actor for chrissakes - his characters are all acted - that s his trade !

Keep an open mind and remember what the nay-sayers said about Daniel Craig portraying James Bond. If Sacha treats the material with respect and works hard, they ll pull it off. How is he going to be playing Freddie?

! He s going to look like Borat the entire movie, that ll be a distraction. * The following code is Copyright 1998-2004 Opinionlab, Inc.
