It is clear that Jordin is better than Blake but I don t think either one is all that vocally talented. Lets be honest, Blake can not sing for shit. He is great at beatboxing, not sure if that is something he should be proud of but he is not a good singer.
I honestly don t know why he is still on the show. Is his edgy appeal really getting him that many votes or maybe the people across America are dying for beatboxing to come back into style full force? I could never hear someone beatbox again and I would be okay with that, hell, I would actually be happy about it.
After last nights show it seemed clear to me that Jordin would win. Is she really an amazingly talented vocalist? In my opinion, no.
She is just decent. She has been extremely inconsistent throughout the show. She has had a few songs where she shined but the majority where she was just decent.
Last night when she sang Christina Aguilera, she was flat out bad. Maybe I hear something different from the rest of the world but she sounded nothing better than average. Put Christina next to her and she would have looked like a complete fool.
I am surprised these are the two people left in the competition. I guess this seasons group wasn t the best overall. It is unfortunate that Melinda wasn t on the show last night.
On a side note, Paula seemed more out of it than ever last night. I heard she fell on her face but I am sure that had nothing to do with her behavior. What kind of drugs is this lady taking (maybe vicoden for the accident)?
It is frustrating because she is a horrible judge, she never says anything truthful, she says what people want to hear. Rumor has it Simon wants off the show. If he leaves there is no show.
Even though the crowd seems to hate him, he is the honest judge. Randy is so-so, Paula is a joke.
Yes folks, it is true.
I gave in and voted for the first time ever last night. I haven t been honest about all the reality TV shows I have been keeping up on. Let s just say I watch about all of them.
Now that I have voted once, I wonder if I am going to start voting all the time. I used to make fun of people who voted. I thought if you voted you were going a little too far.
I still kind of feel that way, I mean this is American Idol afterall, a petty television show finding the next Idol . Sorry but I don t idolize any of these people. So what if they can sing.
It takes a lot more than a voice to make me idolize you. You definitely need a brain to grab my real interest. I am sure none of these kidz have much going for them outside of wanting to win this trite competition.
With all this internal negativity I am surprised I desire to watch the show at all but I do for whatever reason.
I had to give in and vote last night because I think Melinda deserves a spot in the finals.
Unfortunately my vote didn t help her.
I am very sad to see her go.
Jordin and Blake both annoy me. Looks like Melinda will get my only vote
45 Million viewers voted last night and the results were not at all surprising to me or anyone else for that matter.
I have been saying Lakisha s time was looming and I was right. Nothing agianst Lakisha, yes she is a bit large and dresses poorly but she undoubtably has a big voice. Unfortunately her big voice has turned into big screaming over the course of the show.
Last night I truly felt like she was having a yelling match on the stage, both of her performances were terrible. I guess it is hard for me to consider anyones performance terrible, I am not very good myself.
I really don t think anyone shined last night I also don t think Lakisha would have had any less chance of being eliminated had she sang well.
It was her time.
Now for the tough question, who is going to go home next? I was not impressed with Blake last night in the least.
Problem is, America loves Blake. All the girls think he is cute. All the young people think he is unique, the adults probably think he is an idiot, I am sort of on the fence.
One thing I do know, I am sick of the beatboxing nonsense. Get a DJ and a record if you want to sound like a record. I am really confused why anyone would want to try to sound like a song being altered by a DJ when they are singing in a vocal competition.
This is not America s Next Top Musical Prodigy, this is American Idol and it is a singing competition
Jordin, she is a strange one. She can be incredible but she can also be terrible. Her second performance last night was awful.
I would go so far as to say worst of the evening. I could barely stand to listen.
Melinda, she was good but like Paula said, she does what she thinks will impress not what she feels.
I love Melinda and I would hate to see her go home. I don t really think she should be next to go home. She is very consistent and amazingly talented but she doesn t put her heart into it.
I think Blake and Jordin both put themselves out there a bit more. As far as talent, I think Melinda has it. She has proven that by doing extremely well week after week.
As far as potential, I think Jordin has it. A few times she has sang and really wowed me. As far as being musically advanced, Blake would win.
They are all so different and strong in contrasting areas.
I don t think Melinda will get booted so between Jordin Blake, I think Blake may go next week. We will have to wait and see.
Phil was the first elimination of the evening.
I don t think Phil really deserved to be eliminated but I also don t care for him. I think he is a talented vocalist but he does not stand out in my mind as one of the contenders in this competition.
Lakisha who I believe should be eliminated is safe this evening. Lakisha has a huge voice but as others have said in the past, it does not speak to me. I bet on Lakisha to be eliminated next week.
Melinda is safe. Jordin is safe. The final elimination is between Blake and Chris.
I think Chris has consistently performed poorly but did put on a good performance last night. I don t see that performance giving him the votes he needs to stay in this. Blake is in a totally different league, he truly is an artist.
While I find his style to be a bit cheesy, I have respect for him as an innovative and creative individual. It is always fun to see what he will do next and he is really the only original/interesting person in the competition. With Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin we know what to expect.
Blake took that Bon Jovi song and did something with it most people wouldn t even think to. I honestly don t think anyone else in this competition has that ability and that is something that Blake could use to bring him to victory.
Chris is eliminated.
That is the American Idol recap for tonight. I think the results were fair but I would have liked to see Lakisha gone before Phil even though I think she has a stronger vocal ability. She seems less consistent and has zero variety.
I am very bored of her, moreso than I am of Phil and he is about as exciting as the public library.
American Idol elimination results April 25 were also part of American Idol Gives Back Week, a show featuring two hours of performances from some of today s hottest acts, proceeds going to feed the children throughout the world.
Melinda Doolittle and Blake Lewis were safe early on.
Phil Stacey is safe.
All the Idols are safe.
Okay, all the people who were saying Sanjaya is talented in the past can now officially shove it up their ass*s. Just kidding.
But seriously, who could honestly say they enjoyed Sanjaya s performance last night? I am not saying it was the worst thing I have ever seen but hey, I have been to many a karaoke nights with a myriad of drunken fools.
Last night was the first time Sanjaya left his safety zone a little bit and to be honest, at one point I heard the backup singers and I laughed to myself because Sanjaya actually made them sound worse.
He was awful and his performance was lackluster.
Sanjaya was not the only contestant to put on a less than intense performance, I also feel that Lakisha was terrible. Of course, she is a completely different story because I do feel that she is a very talented vocalist.
The thing about Lakisha is, she sounds like every other gospel singer acorss the country. Nothing special, she does not connect with the audience. Chris Richardson is not my favorite either.
I don t care if the ladies find him to be cute , I think he is cheesy and lacks a top lip. I would enjoy seeing him get the boot soon. Who else?
Blake was surprisingly in the bottom three. . While I do not like Blake because I question his skills as a singer, I do think he gives us something unique which I can respect.
Of course Jordin and Melinda were the top in my opinion. I do feel the competition is ultimately going to be between them. The baldy (sorry folks, blanking on his name), well that pretty much sums up his presence in the show.
Maybe that will change, probably not.
Who still thinks Sanjaya is super-talented? ANYONE?
Instead of thirty minutes, the American Idol results show ran for a full hour. Ryan Seacrest introduced the judges and asked Simon Cowell if he slept last night after giving Sanjaya a compliment, and Cowell said “Yes.” The remaining eight American Idol finalists opened the show with a group performance of “Bailamos.
”
In a new results show segment, Ryan Seacrest went to the Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles to get people’s opinion on last night’s performance show. Apparently some people in L.A.
carry around homemade Blake Lewis signs while shopping for produce. After Seacrest’s interviews, Akon made a special guest appearance and sang “Don’t Matter.”
For the Ford music video, the American Idol finalists performed “Happy Together.
” After Ryan Seacrest plugged the Idol Gives Back charity special and patted News Corporation (the parent company of Fox) on the back for their generous $5 million contribution, Simon Cowell appeared in a taped segment about how some of the money would go to buying Schools In A Box. In a hilarious moment, one of the African students included breasts on a drawing of Simon Cowell.
After a recap of the top eight performance show, Ryan Secrest asked the three people with the lowest number of votes to come to center stage.
In the bottom three were Phil Stacey, Haley Scarnato, and Chris Richardson. After Chris Richardson’s name was announced as being in the bottom three, the audience booed.
After a commercial break, Ryan Seacrest sent Chris Richardson back to safety.
Phil Stacey and Haley Scarnato remained on center stage as the bottom two. Jennifer Lopez made a special guest appearance and sang “Qué Hiciste.” After Jennifer Lopez’s performance, Ryan Seacrest revealed that after over 35 million votes, Haley Scarnato was going home.
