YOUNG film-makers from Scotland and Ireland came together to shoot a film in a day at the first Scottish-Irish film festival, REEL 2006.
Teenagers from schools throughout the Capital were among those taking part.
Jointly organised by the Filmhouse cinema in Lothian Road and the Irish consulate in Edinburgh, the festival offers an opportunity to view Scottish and Irish films side by side.
The programme, which runs until November 9, features student productions, teenage films, independently produced short films, low-budget feature and high-profile feel-good movies. Themes include poetry and literature in film, traveller culture and immigration.
Irish consul Cliona Manahan said: "We believe it is now timely to focus yet more attention on our lively, bilateral cultural relations and this first REEL 2006 will focus on our vibrant indigenous film industries.
