On probation for her repeated driving offenses, the 26-year-old hotel heiress, who parlayed her party-and-photo-op lifestyle into worldwide infamy, originally had been sentenced to 45 days, but her term at the Century Regional Detention Facility was reduced because of overcrowding and good behavior. "The premise of her fame is being naughty," publicist David Brokaw told The Associated Press in early May. "This is a career move for her.

It simply fuels the fascination. She can only win with this." And her fans seem to be responding.

"Paris is certainly a symbol of American celebrity culture," writes Kyle Vincent on the Web site , "and we should expect no less from her devoted fans." An anonymous supporter writes, "I love Paris. She is way too fabulous for jail .
