What you should know: Nicolas Cage plays a Vegas magician who has the ability to see two minutes into the future. He is pressed into service to save Los Angeles from being leveled by a nuclear blast. Julianne Moore plays an FBI agent, and Jessica Biel is a teacher who becomes Cage's love interest.

Language: A character appears to mouth the f-word, and a dozen milder profanities are used. Sexual situations and nudity: Kisses are exchanged, and a couple are shown in bed, under the sheets, after a night together. Violence/scary situations: The premise is disturbing and people are kidnapped, shot to death or blown up.

The movie briefly shows what a nuclear holocaust might look like. What you should know: Molly Shannon plays a single woman whose beloved dog dies. Shannon becomes increasingly involved in animal rights and unhinged in this oddball comedy.

Sexual situations and nudity: Some kisses, nothing more. Violence/scary situations: Shannon's dog is lethargic and on the verge of death. There are other scary moments, including a dog bite and (off-camera) an animal attacking another and being euthanized.

A Web site has images of monkeys being tortured. Someone attempts an attack on a person but is thwarted.
