Break out your DVDs, pop some corn, gather the family around, and treat yourselves to the warm glow of a Christmas movie. My best friend's family has a tradition of watching every year during the holidays. While it's a great film, I prefer the more traditional holiday movie approach, and these are all of the trailers from my favorites.

There's a sprinkling of classics, some nostalgia, a couple of wacky entries, and of course what list would be complete without ?

I couldn't in good faith include movie like ( Santa makes me want to move to the Island of Misfit Toys) and forget about (the zombie-like eyes of those animated humans haunts me to this day), so the wacky part of the list includes and . But before you dismiss those, think about it.

They were both set at Christmas, remember? Die Hard had Argyle ( ), the limo driver, pumping his Christmas rap music, and it ends with him saying, "Man, if this is their idea of Christmas, I *gotta* be here for New Year's!" Likewise, if memory serves, the last line of Die Hard 2 has growling, "Ah, what the hell .

.. it's Christmas!

" John McClane saves the world and warms the cockles of our hearts -- true multitasking at work.

The rest of the list is rounded out with perennial favorites like (Cousin Eddie later starred in his own Christmas Vacation sequel ..

. skip it), and Tim Burton's fantastical (did you know he didn't direct this? That was , fyi).

But I couldn't complete the list without including . It's not a proper trailer on the next page (same goes for ), but rather the "Hole in the Washtub" song from the movie. I know it's technically a TV movie, but it always deserved to be seen on the big screen in my heart.

Muppets, FTW!

What are some of your favorite Christmas movies? I'll be here waiting for your answers, but right now I have to go rent some of these before I go crazy.

1. My Christmas season doesn't start until "Scrooged" and the Alastair Sim "A Christmas Carol" have been watched.
2.

"Scrooge", the musical version with Albert Finney, is at the top of the list. It may seem hokey to some but the songs are memorable, and ya gotta like seeing Obi Wan Kenobe as a screeching ghost. "White Christmas" is also a tradition.

I like it since it does not get all "Christmas-y" until the end. It's another movie I can sing along with. I hope a viewing of "The Nativity Story" becomes a tradition for many families.

While many have complained about the "plod in the desert", the manger scene at the end delivers.
3. Glad to see Die Hard up there - it's by far my favourite Christmas film.

4. Gremlins.
5.

Kind of a cheesy flick but I really love "Santa Claus: The Movie" with Dudley Moore and John Lithgow.
6. "While You Were Sleeping" Not only is it set at Christmas, but it's a great date movie -- funny and romantic.

7. What, no Bad Santa? What kind of list is this?

I'll take Billy Bob's Santa over Tim Allen's any day.
8. I agree with slam-cut, Gremlins should have been on this list, and it should have replaced Die Hard 2.

C'mon Kev, Die Hard 2?
9. christmas story and lampoon for me.

but you can never truly count out the great escape and buehler. 10. I love A Christmas Story.

I grew up in a small town and that's what Christmas was like! "You'll shoot your eye out!"
11.

Don't forget "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith and Gene Hackman
12. Reading your blog, thought you might like this music video – not your typical Christmas song! 13.

I definitely agree with Ian about the Alistair Sim Christmas Carol and I would also add The Ref - my absolute favorite dysfunctional family Christmas movie. Also, "Reckless" with Mia Farrow - seldom seen but absolutely worth watching.
14.

A Midnight Clear, directed by Keith Gordon. Check it out.
