FOX has made it official: will end after four seasons. In an announcement that has been expected for some time, with the fate of the once popular teen drama long being the source of much speculation, FOX has finally hammered the final nail in The OC's coffin. The season and series finale will air on February 22.
Creator Josh Schwartz, in last month, expressed that he would be open to a season 5, but it became fairly clear that a fifth season was unlikely. FOX has not been supportive of The OC over the past couple years, which is a shame. This was evidenced, quite clearly, when FOX ordered only sixteen episodes of the show this season, instead of the typical twenty-two.
Now, there have been some stories over the past couple of hours which have said the The OC has been canceled. This is absolutely not the case. The rest of the season will air, and The OC will be wrapping up the season and the series on its own terms.

This is the best show on television. The o.c is a very well written show and it just seems very shameful that something this good can end this fast.

This was like the new 90210. I can guarantee if this show gets cancelled there will never be one quite like this again. It really stinks that this is what they've come down to.
I really think that it's due to the fact that the writers have not been up on their game this season. I really think some of the story lines could have been done better. Dont get me wrong, I'm an avid fan of the OC since the very first show years back, but I do see why the decided to end it.
But to be truthful, they should have somehow given the writers a "warning" that they need to step up on their game or they'll be cancelled. Oh well, I guess I'm thinking in real-world terms and not tv-terms. I will miss the show.
Now I have to go spend millions of dollars buying the overly-priced DVD sets.
Please do not cancel The OC, it has helped me through a lot of hard times i was going through. I don't want it to end.
I head the C.W. might buy it and continue to show new episodes resulting in a 5th season.
The O.C. shouldn't be over because so many people I know really liked it and want it to continue.

The OC is the best show ever. who cares about Marissa's death also causing the oc to go downhill.

The O.C. is the ONLY live action show left on Fox that's any good.
You guys are making a bad move. I've been watching the OC from the start. At its inception I thought it would be horrible due to its premise and the fact that I'm not a rich teenager wearing size zero designer clothes, but when I realized how entertaining and talented the writers, actors, even the set designers and crew are, I was totally hooked.
It is definitely in my top five favorite shows of all time. It's the only show I make it a point to watch any more. So I guess it's time for me to kill my tv and spread the word for others to do the same.

Although i am an avid OC watcher and own all the available seasons, the OC has about run its course.
I would much rather see the OC go out on top instead of draging on and sucking the life blood out of the characters. No ones wants a saved by the bell the college years version of the OC. Thank you for a wonderful 4 seasons and hopefully the fantastic cast of writers and creator can create another series for us to enjoy just as much.
SEriously when i heard about the OC being cancelled i was in complete shock.. ihave been a tru die hard OC fan since day one never missed an episode i have all seasons on DVD and i watch them like its my job.
.. I CAN'T believe that FOX would cancel one of the best shows.
.. maybe if they didn't move it to the same exact time as Greys Anatomy alot more people would be able to watch both shows.

I think cancelling the OC is one of the dumbest moves ever i mean couldnt they cancel something stupid like 24 or bones those shows are so gay and i will never watch another fox show again untill the OC is bought back!
and if this is all because Marissa got killed off i never liked her anyway so i hardly doubt the show is ending due to her i believe fox cant handle all the OC fans and are jealous that the fans are not for them, FOX IS THE WORST STATION EVER NOW i hope fox gets cancelled cawz all i will do is laugh at them! i think MTV should take over the OC that would be ace laguna beach and the OC on one station woot woot i would never leave the house hehe..

The only time I watch fox is when the OC is on. I think that Fox will find next season that their ratings will fall.
It is a shame but I think that the death of this show will mean less viewers for Fox!
thats so stupid that they have to cancel the show dam it this season (4) is going great and im not just saying that because i love the o.c im saying it because its true i wish they could have the show for life!

C. could do a turn around. this show could be Friends and Desprate Housewife come together.
the group of Friends on the show right now could be the New Generation Of Friends. Plus With Julie Having a case of the Franks. this was one of the best shows teenagers could watch with their parents and there was interest for both.
Now O.C. has a lighter side give it a chance.
There is a good story line now that really could grow. I Know Josh Schwartz can turn this around. Give O.
C. a chance FOX

I live for that show...
i faithfully, for four years, have watched that show...
have NEVER missed an episode. I have never liked a show like this ever. So many young people can relate to it.
All the series shows on nowadays are for older crowds. But, the O.C has a mix of ages in it.
It's great. If you cancel this show, i can guarantee you that, 50% of the people that watch it, will never again watch anything on FOX! I am a dedicated fan of this show, i swear if it is cancelled i will NEVER again watch anything on FOX.

Let me say fist of all the only reason why the O.C is done and finished is because the ratings have totally gone down because Misha Barton was removed.
..don't get me wrong i love The O.
C and misha Barton and the Fantastica four but it's just not working anymore...
i wud love to see a season 5 if and only Misha Barton was there and the Fantastic Four was yet once again reunited, but for now, the producers have made a bigg mistake for removing here from the show...
for that The O.C is now coming to an end!
The OC has had bad ratings since the beginning of the second season.
FOX would much rather spend more time with a "stupid show" like 24 because 24 gets MILLIONS of viewers, as opposed to hundreds of thousands, like The OC. Many of the viewers who watched the first season of the OC are now going away to college and probably will no longer watch the show because it is not to their flavor. Mischa Barton probably smelled the end of the show and tried to get out as fast as she could—can you blame her?
I don't think many teenagers could relate to this show--how many of us live in California? I think that 95% of people who watched the OC will get over its being cancelled and watch Prison Break next Sunday.

I absolutly love the O.C., it is my personal favorite show of the week.
Can they seriously leave us hanging? I mean for those who have been dedicated watchers since season one why ruin it. I mean sure most of us cannot relate to the drama in the O.
C. it is still addicting. Even if we do not live the same egregious/luxurious life they do, does not mean we should have to lose such a great show.
Ratings shouldn't matter. All the shows that are big now will probably die down pretty quick, I mean the O.C.
has been at least decently strong for the last four years. We ahve watched the characters grow and what's the point of seeing them go? Kirstin's baby is supposed to be born, what shall happen to it?
Summer and Seth? Taylor and Ryan? There really should be a season five.
So a note to the director, if you are open to a season five perhaps get people to vote if the show should stay on or get a thing people can sign to online. My recomendation, don't play it safe, you do have a whole lot of fa

If the show does get canceled I would really hate to see it go. It will be missed greatly by all the dedicated viewers like me.

instead of going out in a joy ride in my nieghbor's car i would be at home watching benjamin mckenzie get down and dirty with the neighbor girl. i love the show and totally don't want it to end. this show was my live saver!
