Phil was the first elimination of the evening.
I don t think Phil really deserved to be eliminated but I also don t care for him. I think he is a talented vocalist but he does not stand out in my mind as one of the contenders in this competition.
Lakisha who I believe should be eliminated is safe this evening. Lakisha has a huge voice but as others have said in the past, it does not speak to me. I bet on Lakisha to be eliminated next week.
Melinda is safe. Jordin is safe. The final elimination is between Blake and Chris.
I think Chris has consistently performed poorly but did put on a good performance last night. I don t see that performance giving him the votes he needs to stay in this. Blake is in a totally different league, he truly is an artist.
While I find his style to be a bit cheesy, I have respect for him as an innovative and creative individual. It is always fun to see what he will do next and he is really the only original/interesting person in the competition. With Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin we know what to expect.
Blake took that Bon Jovi song and did something with it most people wouldn t even think to. I honestly don t think anyone else in this competition has that ability and that is something that Blake could use to bring him to victory.
Chris is eliminated.
That is the American Idol recap for tonight. I think the results were fair but I would have liked to see Lakisha gone before Phil even though I think she has a stronger vocal ability. She seems less consistent and has zero variety.
I am very bored of her, moreso than I am of Phil and he is about as exciting as the public library.
American Idol elimination results April 25 were also part of American Idol Gives Back Week, a show featuring two hours of performances from some of today s hottest acts, proceeds going to feed the children throughout the world.
Melinda Doolittle and Blake Lewis were safe early on.
Phil Stacey is safe.
All the Idols are safe.
Okay, all the people who were saying Sanjaya is talented in the past can now officially shove it up their ass*s. Just kidding.
But seriously, who could honestly say they enjoyed Sanjaya s performance last night? I am not saying it was the worst thing I have ever seen but hey, I have been to many a karaoke nights with a myriad of drunken fools.
Last night was the first time Sanjaya left his safety zone a little bit and to be honest, at one point I heard the backup singers and I laughed to myself because Sanjaya actually made them sound worse.
He was awful and his performance was lackluster.
Sanjaya was not the only contestant to put on a less than intense performance, I also feel that Lakisha was terrible. Of course, she is a completely different story because I do feel that she is a very talented vocalist.
The thing about Lakisha is, she sounds like every other gospel singer acorss the country. Nothing special, she does not connect with the audience. Chris Richardson is not my favorite either.
I don t care if the ladies find him to be cute , I think he is cheesy and lacks a top lip. I would enjoy seeing him get the boot soon. Who else?
Blake was surprisingly in the bottom three. . While I do not like Blake because I question his skills as a singer, I do think he gives us something unique which I can respect.
Of course Jordin and Melinda were the top in my opinion. I do feel the competition is ultimately going to be between them. The baldy (sorry folks, blanking on his name), well that pretty much sums up his presence in the show.
Maybe that will change, probably not.
Who still thinks Sanjaya is super-talented? ANYONE?
Instead of thirty minutes, the American Idol results show ran for a full hour. Ryan Seacrest introduced the judges and asked Simon Cowell if he slept last night after giving Sanjaya a compliment, and Cowell said “Yes.” The remaining eight American Idol finalists opened the show with a group performance of “Bailamos.
”
In a new results show segment, Ryan Seacrest went to the Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles to get people’s opinion on last night’s performance show. Apparently some people in L.A.
carry around homemade Blake Lewis signs while shopping for produce. After Seacrest’s interviews, Akon made a special guest appearance and sang “Don’t Matter.”
For the Ford music video, the American Idol finalists performed “Happy Together.
” After Ryan Seacrest plugged the Idol Gives Back charity special and patted News Corporation (the parent company of Fox) on the back for their generous $5 million contribution, Simon Cowell appeared in a taped segment about how some of the money would go to buying Schools In A Box. In a hilarious moment, one of the African students included breasts on a drawing of Simon Cowell.
After a recap of the top eight performance show, Ryan Secrest asked the three people with the lowest number of votes to come to center stage.
In the bottom three were Phil Stacey, Haley Scarnato, and Chris Richardson. After Chris Richardson’s name was announced as being in the bottom three, the audience booed.
After a commercial break, Ryan Seacrest sent Chris Richardson back to safety.
Phil Stacey and Haley Scarnato remained on center stage as the bottom two. Jennifer Lopez made a special guest appearance and sang “Qué Hiciste.” After Jennifer Lopez’s performance, Ryan Seacrest revealed that after over 35 million votes, Haley Scarnato was going home.
Glocksen was joined in the bottom three by Haley Scarnato and Phil Stacey. The much-maligned Sanjaya Malakar escaped again, finishing among the middle three contestants.
The top three contestants in this week s voting were Flint s LaKisha Jones, along with Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks.
Tony Bennett was this week s celebrity helper, as the contestants all sang songs from the golden era of crooners.
