Colin Ferguson lays down law, humor in 'Eureka' Director read Shakespeare's sonnets in a Vietnam jungle "Spielberg on Spielberg" at 5 and 9 on Turner Classic Movies: The acclaimed director and producer takes us on a journey through his long career in this 90-minute documentary produced by film critic and historian Richard Schickel. Spielberg tells some great stories, including how he sneaked onto the Universal Studios lot before he began his career, and he explains how he learned from his failure with "1941" (1979) and became better prepared to direct "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981). TCM was wise to just let Spielberg do the talking, says The Star's Dave Mason.
In addition to the documentary, Spielberg's "Jaws" (1975) will air at 6:30 on TCM, and his "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (1977) will air at 10:30. Spielberg, meanwhile, is in the process of directing the fourth "Indiana Jones" film. "The Bronx Is Burning" at 7 on ESPN (series premiere): It's an eight-part series about the New York Yankees' rigorous road to the world championship in 1977, when Yankees superstar Reggie Jackson (Daniel Sunjata) and manager Billy Martin (John Turturro) were locked in a perpetual state of warfare.
Oliver Platt channels all the pomposity and volatility he can muster in playing New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, says Chuck Barney of the Contra Costa Times. "Greek" at 9 on ABC Family (series premiere): A high school nerd (Jacob Zachar) is determined to overhaul his image as a college freshman by becoming a frat boy. Unfortunately, his older sister (Spencer Grammer, "Frasier" star Kelsey Grammer's daughter), a frosty sorority queen, is in a rush to keep that from happening.
"Two and a Half Men" at 9 on CBS: Alan breaks down in this repeat.
