When Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe made Gladiator together they caused a sensation - and now they re planning to try and repeat the success with bloodthirsty ancient Rome replaced by a damp forest in the East Midlands near where they make bikes.
Nottingham, the Russell Crowe vehicle that reimagines the Robin Hood myth with the Sheriff Of Nottingham as the hero, now has a director in the shape of Ridley Scott. The signing of Ridley Scott has made Nottingham into a potentially huge movie, with everyone who has ever seen Gladiator busting with excitement and the four people who saw A Good Year shrieking with the kind of panicked terror that only those who have seen Russell Crowe try and climb out of an usually deep French swimming pool in a funny way can truly understand.

It goes without saying that Nottingham might suffer from the creative input of three powerhouses like Russell Crowe, Ridley Scott and Brian Grazer, but even it does we ll still go and watch it - not least because that way it ll be a windswept epic about the time that the Sheriff Of Nottingham got so angry that he smashed Friar Tuck before opening a silver briefcase, torturing him for a bit and then telling a few clever jokes that .
