, directed by M Padmakumar, tells the story of the rise and fall of Balachandran Adiga (Prithviraj). He is from a poor family, and works as a in a small temple at Kasaragod. He and his relative Sumitra (Kavya Madhavan) are in love and this is well known and approved by all their relatives, but they postpone their marriage because Balachandran doesnt have a decent job.

That time, a person called Thruppan Namboodiri (Salim Kumar, with a horrible wig) approaches Balachandran's parents and presents an offer - Balachandran should marry his (Thruppan's) niece and Thruppan would help to get a job for Balachandran at the secretariat. In typical cinematic ways, Balachandran's relatives go to Sumitra and requests her to persuade her lover for a breakup. Things go as they planned, and Balachandran marries Surabhi (Samrutha Sunil), Thruppan's niece.

However, his personal tragedy converts Balachandran to a rather ruthless man. He goes to Thiruvananthapuram alone and gets a job in the revenue division at the secretariat. He refuses to accept the first bribe he receives from an old woman (he is offered bribe on his joining day itself!

), and shouts at her that he would report the incident to the police. Within five minutes, we could see him accepting the bribe from her, after a short discourse given by Unnithan (Jagathi), who becomes his mentor in corruption. Soon we see Balachandran's sharp rise in the government circle, at the peak of which he becomes powerful enough to be the person who chooses the revenue minister of the state.

During the process, he manipulates many officials and politicians. His personal tragedy never leaves him, and having lost all his moral values, Balachandran even organizes the murder of Sumithra's husband. Around twenty years back, Sibi Malayil made the unforgettable film , which told the story of a young man who becomes a criminal because of the society and circumstances that are not under his control.
