Its taken One yr and 14 days for me to write my first blog……. It might ve been empty forever if not for my mam..

. I was marked “zero” for not having submitted my blog address for an assignment… Sad part is today’s class was the last ever class she d take for me..

sorry mam!!
Fight Club – Brad Pitt’s movie…… I don’t like action movies much….

And I thought Fight club is one of them…. Extreme boredom took me to watch this movie…. It started and I thought… Woah cool!

Its about some psychiatric condition…. It wasn’t… its not a action movie too…
I watched it with my bro…. we finished watching the whole movie….

. Both of us didn’t understand even a bit of it!
It kept me wondering… almost for an hour… I could figure out that each and every scene had some meaning.

.and the director wants us to realize something… but I couldn’t find out what…..

My bro was searching for reviews and comments about this film.. and came across a word “Anti-Consumerism” and asked me “ What exactly is Consumerism.

.?
That second.

. That one word..

. I understood the whole movie….Every bit of it.

. And i was dumb struck completely…..

After a minutes silence…… I started explaining.. When I spoke.

. I spoke non-stop for three hours with my bro trying to make him understand what exactly the movie is trying to say!!

Fight Club is a brash slap in the face of consumerism ……super depiction of "our mass consumerism, our slavery to stuffy corporate office jobs, our growing lack of what makes us human….. The direction is incredibly brilliant.

"
Ok.. thats enough of Fight club….

What actually bothers me is… our mass consumerism, our slavery to stuffy corporate office jobs, our growing lack of what makes us human……
Not just jobs… Our outlook on life.. Intentions.

. Priorities..

Style of living.. Thoughts and actions in entirety is completely conquered by this consumerism-addict world….

"You work in a job you hate, to buy stuff that you don't need, to impress people that you don't like."
Consumerism sets each person against them self in an endless quest for the attainment of material things or the imaginary world conjured up and made possible by things yet to be purchased. Weight training, diet centers, cosmetic surgery, permanent eye make-up, liposuction, breast reduction, breast enhancement, collagen injections, these are are some examples of people turning themselves into human consumer goods more suited for the "marketplace" than living in a healthy balanced society.

Why should you yield yourself to inviting food which is absolutely unhealthy and super expensive too? Finally die doing all of the above to keep yourself fit and healthy… Do we realize it is healthy by no means…
Once when I saw an ice cream named “Last time I ever saw my waist” I blurted out loud..

It costs Rs120/- only…. (Not family pack..

just for one!)The worst part is I bought it and ate it too… Bcoz I remembered the saying..

The best way to overcome temptation is to yield to it! ;)
It disturbs us in every walk of life… from barbies 4 babies to old monk 4 oldies..

we are all caught...

To understand how.. I d like to quote wat happened with me.

,,,,,
My bro is a big time movie buff…. He has amazing DVD collection..

He loves them…. My friend wanted few DVDs and I had given it to her… It took sometime for her to return it back because she met with an accident..

and had a ligament fracture… She couldn’t move.. Since I didn’t have a vehicle I couldn’t pick it back.

.and delay was not actually a matter then..

My bro kept askin me if I had got them back… One day he started yelling at me saying.. “I am more then sure that your friend has lost it or sold it to someone….

. Am very very sure she is not going to return it..

” Though I explained the whole situation he didn’t understand.. I lost my temper when he started using words like xyz$#?

!xyz…..

Its not my bro’s fault at all… He didn’t mean to.. because our minds are set that way.

. We are all consumer addicts… every piece of material that is bought spending hard earned money means to us so much..

so very much… I am not saying it is wrong…..
For him that moment his DVDs seemed more important than me or my friend….

It’s a very sad statement.. But its true….

I am 99% sure there will still be people who think… Yes.. So what if he considered DVDs more important….

We fail to realize… Its just a material… even if it is lost or broken… it can be bought again any minute… But You have actually embarrassed some one.. Its gonna be a scar forever in life… will they ever have the guts to ask someone else for some favour again?

Its become history.. It cannot be rebuilt… forever… I didn’t meet her after that….

Everytime I hear her name.. This is what that comes to my mind….

You have failed a relationship… the basic bonds of life.. that which add meaning to your life.

. that which makes you human… You have failed it… Its like a broken glass… You can never fix it up… But you can always buy a new one… if it was a glass..

NO it is relationship… You count on every word…. Invest so many years of trust and confidence in it..

and finally… You fail them….
Once I skid on a slippery floor and banged on a chair…. And I fell… I hurt my knee….

One person came running towards me (This person is no stranger to me… My very close relative who is supposed to be very caring to me… and yes Of course she is.. But I wondered why she did that that day…) and looked at me first then at the chair….

I look forward to post more on blog about this consumer bound activities that I come across.. including mine….

I came across many interesting articles.,..

pictures… and videos that had something to do with this….
"Each year an estimated 1.5 million Americans choose to have nose jobs, tummy tucks or breast enlargements.

Many of these people would be unable to afford these vital surgical procedures if it were not for the public spirited efforts of loan companies like Jayhawk Acceptance Corporation, a used car lender that has turned to covering the booming demand for elective surgery. Lenders in this field face an unusual challenge," explains the Wall Street Journal: "A lender can take a used car but can hardly repossess a face lift." Consequently lenders like Jayhawk have to charge a slightly higher interest rate, up to 22.

5% to be exact. Says Michael Smartt, Jayhawk CEO, "We're capitalizing on America's vanity."
When the concept of the most beautiful in the world tends to be the same for everyone, it becomes more and more difficult to make more people happy.

Even if the more beautiful players have a larger satisfaction by far, the general dissatisfaction in the system increases." With television, cinema and magazines such as Vogue bombarding us with images of beautiful women and good looking men conforming to a standardised concept of beauty, overall levels of dissatisfaction were likely to increase.
.

Make sunscreen your best friend. Don't even think about going out without it. In winter, a moisturizer or makeup that contains sunscreen is adequate, but in summer, go for straight SPF.

. Never go to a meeting lipstick less. This is an easy way to look professional and polished, even if you wear little else on your face.

It s all what we do…. Ya..

So? Whats wrong with it? Ya… these are of course simple truths… this is how our mind thinks… rather we are made to think that way….

I remember being taught when I was a kid.. “ Three basic needs of life- food clothe and shelter”I guess this needs to be taught at the age of earning….

Its long forgotten with the days of innocence
How many of you have more than one TV or Vehicle at home? How many of you feel sad for someone that they had to walk to a shop at a walkable distance? Actually there is no word "walkable" as such in English….

Yet.. the meaning of this word is so much influenced by consumerim….

After all.. just 10 to 15 mins of walk is considered long walk these days… The increasing traffic situation is the undeniable evidence… Look at the number of 2 wheelers in the city?

Gosh!(I am one of them) It was a luxury..

Then… Now… Its become a need… where? In our minds…
Does it? Not really!

Not atleast in todays world or… there wouldn’t have been such a boom in cosmetic market in India….
Fair and lovely Ads are few of the worst ads I ve ever seen in my lifetime… It shows like… When you become fair..

Yet get to become commentator.. Air hostess.

. worst of it..

Only then Someone would actually be ready to get married to you it seems… Sick…. That to they show a Caring father working on early cosmetic ayurvedic items like kumkumadhi thailam to turn her daughter more fair… Instead he could ve married a fair lady to give birth to a fair daughter… If he s incapable of getting his daughter married to a dignified maapillai… Very funny! How dignified will a man be when he s capable of rejecting a girl on fair complexion basis.

. Imagine what kind of damage that ad could ve caused to a dark complexioned girl… that too who is with dreams of getting married soon… Do these Ad film makers think that these ads would make them believe that they would become beautiful if they use these cosmetics? May be yes… But it only lowers their confidence….

Genelia is dark it seems.. and she s doing cricket commentary while her sister brings Fair and lovely to boost her confidence.

.
wow! wat a confidence building tool?

They look at her on screen by accident after she uses Fair and Lovely and identifies the commentator talent in an instant

Whew! The Fair and Lovely Genelia has become the commentator already!

What you see now is the great product solely responsible for her success!

I picked up these pics from a site that explained the story boarding of this ad 4 TVC guidance.. No Comments!

“One beauty product that has achieved remarkable success across all class and ethnic groups is the bleaching cream Fair and Lovely. Something of an institution in India, Fair and Lovely was patented by Hindustan Lever Limited, in 1971 following the patenting of niacinamide, a chemical that lightens the color of the skin. First test marketed in the South in 1975, it was available throughout India by 1978 and subsequently became the largest selling skin cream in India.

Accounting for eighty percent of the fairness cream market in India, Fair and Lovely has an estimated sixty million consumers throughout the subcontinent and exports to thirty four countries in Southeast and Central Asia, as well as the Middle East. In 2000, Fair and Lovely embarked on a new marketing approach, with newer, more sophisticated packaging and improved fragrance (Hindustan Lever Prospectus, 2002). Even Fair and Lovely, it seemed, was not immune to the beauty product revolution that introduced new skin care lotions.

Sixty million fools in Our Subcontinent alone...

. Applause!

“Urban India's middle and upper class women have experienced a veritable revolution in commercial beauty products and beauty culture since liberalization in 1991.

Prior to liberalization, these women had two brands of lipstick and cold cream from which to choose. In the last five years, however, zaibatsu giant Hindustan Lever, Ltd., released 250 new beauty products, and international corporations have been heavily involved in marketing beauty products in India.

French cosmetics giant L'Oreal, for example, has spent over thirty million dollars on local manufacturing since 1994. During an interview, S. Jayabalan, Managing Director of Kalinga Cosmetics, which handles international brands such as Kenzo, stressed the importance of international trends in Indian consumption patterns: "Indians are very brand conscious.

They are well aware of all the popular brands abroad like Issey Miyake and Lancome. What's popular abroad is very popular here."
It’s a Dove ad on a workshop to teach girls on what is true beauty… I was flabbergasted to realize wat that goes behind influencing our minds..

It was of less shock to me coz I am with media.. When is showed to other friends who actually believe these femina like magazines… they had no words.

. they were like… “Machi..

I never knew they do all these and I always envy such good looks” ha ha…
Isn't she Beautiful? That's a priceless hearty smile!
The true beauty is to remain clean and neat and internally healthy and full of good sweetening words ,care and affection.

Such is the kind of beauty that will be respected, thought this kind of outlook is made important these days. Consumer gods sellers are so clever..

they don’t target people but their minds…. Direct hit on it…
It occurs only as a thought… You are continuously bombarded with the same thought and someday It occurs to be the truth…..

You are continuously made to cross articles.. commercials.

. ads..

hoardings.. and what not?

Every means of communication and finally You start believing in what just occurred as a thought.. Not just you.

. a few more around you…. Few becomes many in few days… finally the MANY becomes ALL
I wonder why women wouldn’t spend more time on growing their intelligence.

I naturally tend to respect more educated women than more so called beautiful women…
But these days more women are keen on becoming models.. they are the commercial tools these days…
Do you know the question she got in her final round of Miss World competition?

She wasn’t alive then… Priyanka chopra didn’t even know that.. Mother ofcourse lives in our hearts But it displayed utter foolishness….

.
A small house surrounded by garden where you grow your own vegetables for food… A house where humans, cattle and birds live in harmony… (These days only dogs (that too branded) and Cats are pets) You live in a community where you know almost everyone in your neighborhood… (These days we don’t even know the persons name next door (even I don’t know)) Children have a lovely vast green open place to play what they liked (Compound wall surrounded play fields doesn’t look beautiful to my eyes..

So cramped and crowded.. Sorry!

Worst part is you pay to get in and play there ) You don’t have to “make time” amidst your busy schedule to go to nearby temple or to be present for you kids fourth birthday…(stress stress stress every where… These days.. you have special classes conducted to meet and play… do activities that we ought to be doing in NORMAL life.

. “Art of living” is a course? Yes when Art becomes Style Art needs to be taught…)Walking is a pleasure… Speaking is easy.

. Friends are few and for a lifetime… Children are the world to parents… Their sole concern is their children…(None of which is true these days at least to an extent) Festivals are a joy you long for every year…Where we all value relationships more than anything under sun… (Actually we all do..

But only until it is broken coz of materialistic sympathies) Live simple and happy… with accessible quality education good books.. good food.

. good music..

good entertainment.. good schools and colleges.

. research houses..

Let there be computers.. Internet.

. mobiles..

every good thing of today’s world.. (But never in the name of need… it should only multiply your happiness instead few psychiatric syndromes through these are causing a kind of mental illness to people.

. My next article will be on that..

)
It would look somewhat similar to this!!
Can u see my children playing cricket on a vast rich green lawn.

..?

(Pets are part of their play!)

This is the kind of beauty I was referring to…. I don’t know if it is possible.

. But I know I ve not said anything that never existed..

It was all there… a few decades back too…
People say:"Hema is fun to be with.. Oh!

no!she is funny herself..

who said? She is just too arrogant! " "Never seen someone more easygoing.

." "She is too emotional!" "She s got the command.

." "Hema is a feminist!" "My life is so adventurous.

." "Oh shit!Y isnt anything happening in life?

" In search of the true search.. I am unpredictable.

. I am a Virgo..

. I am nocturnal..

Planning to remain single forever.. and live my way.
