Abhay Deol on his famous last name and his two left feet Do you think the audience is ready for dark comedies like your forthcoming film Ek Chalis Ki Last Local (ECKLL)? As far as I know, except for Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, the Indian audience has not been exposed to such films. But this one should be good.
The film captures the hours from when the hero misses his last local train (at 1.40 a.m.
) and catches the early morning train at 4.10 a.m.
Did you enjoy the comedy? Yeah, I enjoyed doing it. But I think action is the easiest.
Acting is the only thing I know and it is not difficult. The film was shot mostly inside a suburban train. Have you ever travelled by train?
When I was in America, I would take a train to meet my consultant. I have lost count of how many times I have travelled on a train. Are the famous Deols happy with your work?
They just want me to do my work sincerely and so far they have appreciated my work in the films I ve done. Like them, I too am not very comfortable when it comes to dancing. You have two left feet too.
I am not interested in song-and-dance sequences but I enjoyed doing the promotional song Gaadi Chhoote for ECKLL. The promos on TV and radio have evoked a good response. I hope it works for the film as well.
As for me hitting the dance floor, I think each of your films should display one of your talents and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. showcased my dancing abilities. Why have all your four films been with debutant directors?
I liked the stories of all my earlier releases and so I did them. Let me make it clear that it is always good to work with an established banner though my next two films are with new directors. There is the Venod Mitra-directed film titled Meridian, starring Soha Ali Khan, Irrfan, Arjun Rampal, Konkona Sen Sharma and Raima Sen.
Navdeep Singh has directed Manorama Six Feet Under that has Raima Sen, Sarika and Gul Panag in the lead.
