MELBOURNE girl Vanessa Amorosi will launch her chart comeback with a bold new sound to complement her reinvented rock chick look next month. Her first single in more than five years, , shows off the powerful pipes which propelled the talented teen on to the world stage with the pop anthems and in 2000. I now love that track, Amorosi said.
That track to me is something that was such hard work. So much blood, sweat and tears went into getting that to work that now I have such an appreciation for it. Amorosi has been writing and recording in Los Angeles for the past year with hitmakers who have worked with Pink and Avril Lavigne.
Her return to the music scene is perfectly timed with other big soul-voice artists including Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone proving popular. Amorosi has maintained a low profile in recent years, still performing occasional gigs here and in Germany. She split with the management team of judge Mark Holden and Jack Strom after seven years to sign with Ralph Carr.
Carr has also helped steer Kate Ceberano back into the charts. Amorosi, 25, delivered a show-stopping performance of to induct Helen Reddy to the ARIA Hall of Fame last year, and drew raves for her performance at the Byron Bay Bluesfest at Easter. She said carving her new sound has been hard work, particularly on , a 13-second sample of which is streaming on her MySpace page.
