TV personality Grant Denyer will race in the V8 Supercar enduro events Sandown and Bathurst after signing on with Ford's WPS/WOW Racing team. Denyer joins his Fujitsu series team-mate Michael Caruso alongside regular drivers Max Wilson and Jason Bargwanna in the team, with the driver pairings yet to be decided. Denyer got his first taste of the team cars on Wednesday at Queensland Raceway, where WPS/WOW Racing was testing both of its cars and all four drivers ahead of round seven of the V8 Supercar Championship Series there from Friday week.

Denyer has been a weatherman with Seven Network and has hosted a number of the station's programs including the celebrity singing show It Takes Two. He won Dancing with the Stars in 2006. "Driving at Bathurst last year was one of the highlights of my life," said Denyer, who competed for Dick Johnson Racing in the prestigious event in 2006.

"Now with one Bathurst under my belt, I have an idea of what it is really like ...

it's such a tough race and having a good team around you means a lot, so it is a really great opportunity for me." Meanwhile, leading Ford driver Craig Lowndes has defended Queensland Raceway after his Holden rival Jason Richards branded the circuit "mind-numbingly boring". "If Jason thinks it's so easy then we will expect to see him on pole," Lowndes said.

"It is a circuit that we all have to race on - certainly not the most technical track for a driver but it has its own unique characteristics and some quite difficult turns. "It's also a fantastic place for spectators because they don't miss any of the action with the whole track being visible to them."
