Ah, what a wonderful day.

..spend all day in traffic, dealing with hundreds of thousands of pushy people, running from hotel to hotel to meet with companies, only to come home to a crashed server and not be able to tell you all about it.

Good times,good times.

Day One has come and gone, and we still haven't even made it to the show floor, as we spent the entire day between the Bellagio, the Wynn, and the Mirage. However we did get to spend some quality time with ECS, Crucial, and Antec.

The theme this year, or so it seems to this point is that nothing much is really happening!

During our meeting with ECS, we focused mostly on some handheld devices like GPS and DVD players, as there were only two motherboards present in the entire room! Never the less, it was a good time, and further more, we'll be covering one of those boards next week (ECS' 680i entry, which I'll say is the finest product they've ever made).

First up (from the left) is ECS' new EM3570, a DVB-T receiver for watching high fidelity TV programs. Featuring a 3.

5" LCD TFT Display, 10 hours of audio or five hours of video playback, and USB 2.0 connectivity, the EM3570 also does double duty as a GPS device.

The EM3535W is a slightly larger portable video/audio device, featuring a 4" LCD TFT display and a 1.

8" 10 or 12GB HDD. The 3535W also includes a remote control for ease of use, though I'm not sure how necessary a remote is when you're watching a 4" screen. Last up is a smaller, and simpler personal media player, the EM3510, which offers a 3.

5" screen and a 10 hour battery life for music playback, and five hour battery life for video playback.

We spent an hour or so with Crucial, enjoying a nice lunch at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort (where Paul lost a thousand...

..pennies!

Cheap bastard). During our meeting with Crucial, we didn't cover any specific products, but did discuss the recent merger with Lexar, which will bring more flash memory to the Micron family, pushing the memory giant further into devices like digital camera and cell phone storage. Lastly, the point Cruial wanted us to emphasize more than anything else (not that their memory needs any hype) was their .

Crucial's and have both recently been upgraded in anticipation of Microsoft's impending release of Vista.
