ANY ACTUAL STARS?

Professional dancers Ashly Costa Delgrosso (seasons 1-3), Kym Johnson (seasons 3 and 4) and Maksim Chmerkovskiy (seasons 2-4) lead the routines. Kym and Maksim danced in the finals this season.
WHO IT'S FOR: Fans of the show who've wondered, Could that be me?

; those looking for a fun way to get in their cardio; and people who prefer to learn how to shake their groove things in private.
WHO IT'S NOT FOR: If you struggled to pick up the Electric Slide or the Macarena, this probably isn't your cup of tea. Also, if you've had back problems or other injuries that limit your range of motion, proceed with caution.


HOW MUCH DANCE? HOW MUCH CARDIO? Four dances with good variety: paso doble, cha-cha, samba and jive, which get progressively more challenging and intense in that order.

Combine the paso doble with another dance to get a good workout. Otherwise, any one of the others is sufficient to get your heart rate going.
IS IT EASY TO FOLLOW?

This is not your mom's jazzercise routine. Prepare to jump in with both feet and not a lot of detailed instruction. It's more about watching and catching on.

Part of the fun is adding your own flair to the movements.
OVERALL, IS IT FUN? Yes, and it's a chance to indulge your inner 6-year-old ballerina who really wanted to take jazz dance lessons.


IMPACT? You'll huff and puff, and probably sweat, but you shouldn't feel it the next day.
WHAT TO WEAR: Your clothes need to have some give, but you don't want them to get in the way stretchy pants and a tank top work well.

Shoes are up to you; the dancers wear them, though I was more comfortable (and agile) in bare feet.
WHAT YOU NEED: Space to move in all directions.
