MIPS Technologies introduced its latest 32-bit MIPS 32 74K processor in Taiwan on May 25, highlighting the performance leap that this new generation processor delivers.
MIPS 32 74K has a frequency of 1GHz and is designed for high-volume applications such as digital TVs (DTVs), set-top boxes (STBs), and DVD players, highlighted MIPS. This 65nm Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)-made processor has already been adopted by Broadcom, the company said.
Company vice president of marketing Jack Browne noted that MIPS 32 74K is the smallest processor (2.5mm squared) in its class, while its execution performance on digital signal processing is more than 60% faster than 24KE family models.
In a separate note, chief executives from MIPS, ARM and ARC will all hold product demonstrations and workshops during Computex Taipei 2007 (June 5-9).
