Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Malaysia`s Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin has expressed regret on the failure of some Malaysian films to penetrate Indonesia`s cinema market such as the "Cicak Man" which is a box office in his country.
"I do not understand why Malaysian films had difficulties in entering the Indonesian market, whereas so many of Indonesian films have entered Malaysia so easily," the minister said here on Thursday.
Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin said the super hero film entitled "Cicak (lizard) Man" is one of films which was produced by the application of digital technology.
The "Cicak Man" has obtained a large profit and big audiences, moreover if the film is showed in Indonesia, he said.
The minister said futher that besides the Cicak Man which was produced in 2006, another horor film entitled "Jangan Pandang Belakang" (Don`t Look Back) was also a success in the neighboring country.
"Why did such films fail to be shown in Indonesian movie theatres, even I myself dont have the answer," he said.
Perhaps, Malaysia`s free policy on films which could be shown to the public, was one of the reasons why its films easily entered the Malaysian market, the minister added.(*)
