A suit claims a teacher showed the girl and her class the gay love movie "Brokeback Mountain."
The girl and her grandparents, Kenneth and LaVerne Richardson, are seeking more than $400,000 in damages under the suit filed Friday against the Chicago Board of Education and others.
Psychological distress was cited in the suit by the girl after watching "Brokeback Mountain.
"
The Sun-Times reports according to the suit, "a substitute teacher introduced herself as Ms. Buford to Jessica's class at Ashburn Community Elementary School, 8300 S. St.
Louis Ave.
She then said, 'What happens in Ms. Buford's class stays in Ms.
Buford's class,' the suit claims. Buford then had a student close the door, and started showing the critically acclaimed and still controversial R-rated film, which features two men engaging in anal sex.
The suit makes claim that Ashburn's principal, Jewel A.
Diaz, "was aware that the tale of the love between two cowboys set in the West of the 1960s was being shown to the minors," according to the Sun-Times.
The girl, according to the Sun-Times report, complained to her grandfather that she was "confined to her seat and felt she could not leave the room," the allegations laid out in the suit filed in Cook County Circuit Court.
Accusations of negligence, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress were also claimed.
The suit claims the girl is currently undergoing psychological treatment and counseling.

wow america's lawsuit situation is so pathetic..
. shove that psychological distress somewhere else, GET OVER IT. if you have nothing to do at school and watch a movie, be glad for a little break, dont whine about morals or how it's ruining your mind.
If you don't like a movie, GET THE @#$% out of the room.
I would be very upset if my 12 year old was shown Brokeback Mountain by a school employee. The family has every right to sue the school.
Hopefully, no other adult will exercise such poor judgement in the future.
