Follow one simple rule
Don't mess with the flow, oh no
Stick to the status quooooooooooooo
Well since the last time I wrote I’ve seen High School Musical over 25 times, been taxed double the amount Cassie has been in a year in a week, successfully stalked Owen Wilson, seen 3 more movies, played copious amounts of DDR, have found myself facing another short film experience, bbq’d at Kate’s in the middle of Winter, celebrated Brendan and Cassie’s birthdays, missed out on Panic! At the Disco tickets, seen Gyroscope (again with the Peninsula Lounge?!
)… farewelled Jenni ( Jake), welcomed back Dan…and returned to uni…barely… oh and got Panic! At The Disco tickets…and recovered and then not recovered from this cold/flu thing…gah!
Well so let us hark back…right I’d come home from Phillip Island on the Wednesday…and BELLBOY (to take a leaf out of Jenni’s book)…but Smash and I still set off for our Jam Factory preview screening adventure of Sione’s Wedding…our road trip up there was muchos fun with singing along to whatever was on the radio etc (where I learnt that Andy Lee has a myspace and was tracking down Milli Vanilli)…until Smash piped up with “I love that Nelly song Grillz” to which I excitedly piped up “I have that on cd!
”…and promptly pulled out my latest random mix which kept us amused…we finally found our way there and a carpark and such “Jess where would I be without you? How do I keep missing these signs right in front of my face?!
”…and as we were early (we’d allowed for traffic)…and hungry we went to the pancake parlour for some wonderful wonderful refreshments…oh and we got to get our parking validated too which was a little exciting!..
.after being harassed by Village cinema workers every two steps “Wanna buy a choc top?!
” we finally made it to the cinema…we think that if they didn’t reach a quota of choc tops sold they were going to be fired or something…and after joking about how I’d won the soundtrack and how they were going to get out the spotlight and thank me for being their special guest etc we finally got down to the business of watching the film…and it was surprisingly good…except for the weird camera cutting/jumping thing they did over the opening credits to fit to the music which made me feel a little bit nauseous…I found the film wholly amusing but that could just be me…
So Thursday I worked from 9-12:30…and then caught the good old bus to visit Jenni…and then went back into Frankston with Jenni and Brendan to investigate TimeZone/Whatever pov version Frankston now has…as Brendan said “you just can’t escape that place can you”…no I can’t…and we went for a little visit to Langely…where Brendan was trapped by the thought of a Mario Brother’s soundtrack…and where I was fascinated by the fact John Leguizamo was Luigi…my two great loves in one film… Jenni I can’t remember if you purchased from Langley or not?!.
..sorry…then we went to good old Cashie’s (hah, Khia that ad still makes me laugh, but I haven’t seen it in so long…*tear*) where I was sucked in by the old 50c cd single (Roll On by The Living End)…and I finally bought Confessions on dvd for $7 so now I can watch Sammy dancing whenever I want…although I never actually watched it to see if it works…oh well.
And as usual there were plenty of copies of Snowed In and Spice World there…some things never change…I’m pretty sure Jenni purchased The Emperor’s New Groove and something else which I can’t quite put my finger on…”now we’re going to have to fight for the cd player in the car on the way home…”…I think I went to Jenni’s with the intention of watching James Dean and having 4 Cheeses but alas it never came to pass…then there was soccer…which I didn’t play…and I think I went home…who knows what I did on Friday but I worked from 3:30-8 and was then meant to go to Georgia’s for birthday celebrationing but I fell asleep…oh I think I began watching High School Musical at home that day and then I knew that they would be playing it at work because it had just come out on dvd and I was right…yeah that sounds good. Ok now it is honestly THE most distracting movie to have playing at work ever…I mean I’ll be serving someone and staring over their shoulder because I get distracted by the pretty lights and colours and the dancing and the singing…it’s honestly so sad…
Right well Saturday I worked…all day…as usual…and got distracted by High School Musical…and then I went to babysit Hayden for a few hours…it’s amazing how quickly kids get over their crying and tantrums…
Rachel: Ok, bye Hayden
Hayden: *bursts into tears you think will never stop ever in your entire life*
Rachel: Get the book…where is the green sheep!
Jess: Ok!
Hey Hayden let’s go get your book…
Hayden: *runs into room, finds book…completely calm…waterworks gone*
I swear it was magic. Once he’d gone to bed I played some Tony Hawk on X-Box…but gave up when I couldn’t master Christ Air…but I did give Tony some street cred you see I gave him tattoos and a bandana and cool wristbands…well he was cool…for a while…
This brings us to Sunday…so I went to Jenni’s for a Boosh-A-Thon…with Brendan and Alex…and we ate way too much (honestly Alex is a MACHINE) and got through the entire first season and I think one or two episodes of the second one…oh how I love Vince Noir…oh how I idolise him…and oh to have the moon as a friend…well I have Khia…I guess that’s kinda the same thing…?!
So then I went home for dinner and then went round to Kate’s for a bbq/house freezing type event…it’s always fun hanging out at Kate’s doing nothing, but surprisingly I don’t think there was one musical cd brought out/played…and that’s just not right…I had a long discussion with Rocky about the pros and cons of having tongs for hands and in fact the usefulness of tongs in general…I also finally got to see the last half of Saw II…although I wasn’t surprised because I knew about one of the twists already and could see the other twist coming from the beginning of the movie (no seriously I could)…we then talked s**t and I went to sleep at like 3am on the couch because I didn’t want to disturb Kate who had gone to sleep a few hours earlier!
So Monday…Monday?!
...
I think it must’ve been the day I went to DFO with Jen and Alex because it doesn’t fit anywhere else in my schedule…well sure we’ll go with that…so we shopped and I bought a Trilby hat…because I wanted one..and it’s tweed…and I don’t think I’ll ever wear it but hey I like hats so what can I do?
!
Tuesday turned out to be a rather big day…I went to work at 12:30-5:30…and then went home…quickly gathered belongings and Brendan’s present etc. because you see we were going out to “Jacks/CB’s” for dinner that night and then because I’m smart and can think ahead I thought hey why don’t I see if I can stay at Jenni’s and we can go to see On A Clear Day the next day in Mornington…which meant I loaded up my new Pirates of the Carribean backpack/suitcase type thing (it’s huge and I won it and I love it and I won a Jack Sparrow doll too…and a sticker and tattoo etc) and was on my way…we officially hate Jacks/CBs now…they’ve jacked up the prices (excuse my pun) to a ridiculous height…and I was mainly mad because all day long at work I’d been dreaming of a BLT…AND THOSE ASSHOLES HAD TAKEN IT OFF THE MENU…I was so not happy it wasn’t funny…then after dinner we went across to Jacks…for about 5 minutes before deciding to bail…so we went home and I caught the tail end of FBA being on Rove (it’s ok because I’d taped it)…and I think we then went on the internet for a while for some reason I can’t remember but I’m pretty sure that’s when Jenni and I discovered the wonder that is Andy Nguyen through the wonder that is facebook…oh and we found Jenny Brown too…and then at some ridiculous hour of the morning we decided it would be a good time to sit down and watch our beloved James Franco acting as James Dean “I’m drumming, go to hell”…we also came up with the brilliant idea of making another biopic of James Dean but EVERYONE who worked on it had to be named James or a derivative of James…well it was a good idea at 3am or whatever!
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think we also had a good rant about life, the universe and everything as we usually do…what will I do now you’re gone Jenni?!.
..I can’t afford to pay a therapist!
So I had to get up early the next day (like 9am) to do my alloc8 thing…and I cracked because they tried to make me do this class on Friday and all I wanted to do was move it to Thursday but apparently it was full…but then my logical brain kicked in and I thought “it’s an arts course…who is going to want a 9:30am class? Just wait a little while and someone will definitely transfer out…at which point you use the opportunity to push yourself into aforementioned class”…and it worked…I only had to wait an hour!.
..well then Jenni woke up…and Khia came round and we played “You Don’t Know Jack” which is such an awesome phenomenon and I’m so sad I’ve been missing it for all these years…I think I actually won a game…and actually had a score that wasn’t like -$14,500…unlike Khia and her -$75,000…it’s that whole Jack Attack thing!
Ok so Jenni and I freaked out cos our bus was coming rather soon so we hauled ass up to the highway…and then…well I don’t care to recount the story of our stupidity but it’s there in black and white on Jenni’s journal if you so desire to know!..
.but anyways we ended up in Mornington eventually…and visited Target in the hopes of finding lolly cups…and Coles in the hope of finding Simon and $1 boost…(we found $1 boost but no Simon or lolly cups unfortunately) and after marvelling at the rudeness of old people in Mornington and the ridiculousness of some of them…“I’m here to see the White Countess…oh very well then…WAH!WAH!
it is!”…we got choc tops and were in like this tiny little theatre (Nick Jessica on Newlyweds had a bigger home theatre) but despite the rudeness of the old people behind us the movie was thoroughly enjoyable…god bless British films…nay, god bless Billy Boyd…he was the main reason…well I think the only reason we went to see the film…actually the only reason we were drawn in originally was because of “Def-e-net-ley” but it actually turned out to be good…despite us being two 19 year old students who one would think would have no interest in such films…aw…soap in his eyes…and eye spy…and the fish and chip guy…and “I took the ferry!”…anyways so we finished our film and set off to find Khia in Arabesque (she had a job interview) but whilst walking past LaMonica’s we looked in and saw Pledge and Anthony just hanging out doing nothing so we decided to join them…we ate more sugar and waited for Khia…and eventually went back home to Jenni’s where she made Brendan’s birthday card/cd…and burnt me a copy of High School Musical also…because she’s the best…even drawing on the segregation of stick people for me… we hate the Status Quo song because they cut out the dialogue so now there is just karaoke style backing music and then the voices say “Not another word” or “Not another sound” but noone has been speaking…which does slightly amuse me…
Anyhoo we quickly walked to Brendan’s house to be there in order to be able to see A Town Called Panic…and of course Blue Water High II…but then Brendan kept getting distracted by all his dvd gifts as he tried to play them all at once…
Oh and Jenni and I ate a snot block…and the kids played some gamecube…he now has Mario Tennis because Alex is the best in the world…before we left for Bredan’s “Make Me Grow Up Party”…I’d made my plans for Dark Zone before we left…in one game I planned to claim I was a pacifist and refuse to shoot anyone (and if we had any daises on hand stick them in people’s lasers)…and in the second I planned to sit in a corner and shoot anyone who came at me…you see if I had to lose (as I was inevitably going to do because I wasn’t born with gaming skills/I’ve neglected to develop my gaming skills over the years) I was going to lose well…which I did end up doing…you see I went for a record of most shots fired…which people kept telling me not to do because ‘it takes your average down’…hah!
Like my average was worth anything anyway…and I still maintain our team somehow got jibbed…I mean we ended up with all the crappy players?!.
..but whatever…for the first two games I was “Witch”…and then I chose the Earl pack so I could walk around and say “Hi, my name is Earl”…small minds…
We had pizza and much candy and played crappy games…but Alex and I liked the ones where you shot bubbles…and then we hung out in Subway/Baskin Robbins…and then moved on to hang out in Ha’pennys…and then I went home cos I’m lame…
Thursday I worked from 2pm-8pm and then went to see Gyroscope at The Peninsula Lounge…one of our favourite pastimes was the Stubby Holder game where you hold up Pledge’s Gyroscope stubby holder and match the picture with people in the room…we gained amusement out of finding an actual band member and then deciding they didn’t look like their picture…we also found this kid who we assumed had to be related to the band…and then there was the Mick Jaggeresque type guy who Khia and I gained amusement out of impersonating with his high kicks and pouty lip thing…but all in all it was highly enjoyable…
I forgot on Thursday we also went ‘mod’ shopping…but then got distracted by things like Luke Skywalker dolls and the novelisation of ET etc…but I did find Jenni a cool mod type dress which then put the idea in her head that she would dress up as Margot Tenenbaum for her farewell dinner…why?
...
because she felt like it…and I decided I wanted to dress up in homage to Vince…why?..
.because he’s awesome!
So Friday I worked from 3:30-8pm and we were meant to go out for work drinks for Cass’ birthday but that idea died and so I got home and was in my pyjamas and was about to watch an episode of Gilmore Girls when I get a message from Jenny Brown telling me they’re coming to pick me up at 9:30ish…so because it was Jenni’s last weekend I got out of bed got dressed and made the effort…we had to queue for Davey’s which was so not cool…I’ve never had to queue before…and it was FREEZING cold to add insult to injury…our favourite band with the sparkly guitar guy was back…and the dj sucked because he didn’t get our subliminal messages to play Sean Paul…eg.
”Ain’t no other man, can stand, up next to you,…[Sean Paul]”…oh and I saw Sam who was rather drunk but still remembered Jenny and Jenni and Alex’s names once I’d introduced them…which I did wrong in the first place…”well I still get to be Jenni!”…and the girls saw some extremely tall basketball guy who went to their school who they talked to only so Alex could sneakily steal a seat as her feet were hurting…sadly not many freaks cracked on to Jenny Brown this time…but Alex was highly amused by my “Walk faster!” plea as we were leaving…oh and Jen’s car/we got egged…kinda…we think…but it prompted…”Alex!
Unlock the doors! Quick!” and we made our getaway.
Saturday I worked all day…what a surprise…but our Zac shrine and High School Musical kept us occupied…oh and we also had cake that smelt like pink…and it was soo good…with jam and cream and pink icing and sprinkles…I bought it cos it was going to be Cass’ birthday on Monday…aren’t I a good supervisor/boss thing?! Saturday night I fell asleep rather early…while across town Jenni was doing a rehearsal pack!
...
Sunday I woke up lonely as my folks were in either Bendigo or on their way to Mt Buller *tear*…I attempted to help kate pack up her stuff in order to move but mainly I just got in her way and collected things from her house that I’ve now claimed as my own…then I went home and worked on my Vince accessories (Noir lettering and a POP badge) before Jenni DROVE Brendan to my place (the damage is hardly noticable) and then we went to get ice, hairspray, petrol and lemonade…
Our preparation for Jenni’s Farewell Dinner (Again) involved watching episodes of the Boosh to discover how to do a basic backcomb style…but my hair is as stubborn as the rest of me and Cindy got much enjoyment out of teasing my hair to great heights and knots to just leave it for a minute and attempt to brush it and then suddenly there it is back to being straight and flat…gah!..
.but it worked out well enough…and I made a pretty cool Vince…and Jenny was a rather convincing Margot also…
Cindy: Jenni, why are you grumpy?
Margot/Jenni: I’m not grumpy…I’m in character…
And of course I couldn’t help but get into the Vince character…
Margot/Jenni: And then Alex you need to put the pasta in…
Vince/Jess: *sneaks peek at own reflection in the microwave over Jenni’s shoulder*
Margot/Jenni: I saw that!
Vince/Jenni: I can’t help it…*runs away sheepishly*
Dinner was excellent…and Jenni and I sipped out of martini glasses to make us feel more upper class…and eventually we discovered that Brandy will give the old Smirnoff twist some flavouring! The kids played eye-toy, and ate…and drank…and we all decided to make speeches…and Jenni was impressed by my delivery/the topping of her sarcastic comment…
Khia: What is this [chocolate pot] made with?
Jenni: My blood…
Jess:…oh that’s why it’s so cold…
Eventually people left…and then it was just me…and Jenni…and Summer of Sam…with John Leguizamo…and the punky gigilo musician Adrien Brody…and then once more we indulged ourselves in a final rant about life, the universe and everything which continued on until 6am.
Only when there were cars in the street and people heading off to work could we sleep…Alex came and woke us at some stage…although we were awake already thanks to the creepy gardening man we were hiding from…we meant to have 4 cheeses again but didn’t…and then we went shopping…probably…in Frankston…yes, that’s right Jenni needed to get things…then I went home. Yes, my details are exquisite. That evening I had been smart and thought ahead and decided against dining at Pizza Hut as it was a total let down…but unfortunately I hadn’t been able to predict the crapiness of My Super Ex-Girlfriend and Jenni, Alex, Brendan and I exposed ourselves to what I can only call a waste of time…seriously I want those 90 minutes of my life back…and I NEVER hate movies so that’s saying something right there…before the film…nay MOVIE…we went shopping as Jenni stocked up on $60 worth of candy and we played some more DDR at “TUNZAFUN”…it was amusing because as soon as we’d finished playing our game they pulled this one electrical plug out of the wall and ALL the games in the entire place shut down and all the lights went out etc.
Tuesday was Owen Wilson Stalking Day…and Jenni was meant to come to my uni lecture with me but because of Bad Bussy…she didn’t make it…*tear* but I maintain she got the Melbourne Uni Creative Arts Student experience because she came and sat around with us in Deep Dish for long enough! While the lecture seemed to be a waste of time it was rather exciting to see everyone again…made even more exciting by the fact that I actually have classes with them this semester…huzzah!.
..hehe, “she’s holidaying…in Dupree!
” thanks guys…and Dan is back…yay!
So then Jenni and I headed off to stalk Owen Wilson…but first we made one final trip to JB where I decided to be rebellious and BUY the McLars “Download This Song” single…and buy the original “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” soundtrack…we then HAD to stop by Ben Sherman because it was actually open and Jenni had been so excited just to park beside it so going inside was more exciting…we wanted mod ties…and underwear…and cufflinks…but didn’t want to fork out muchos money…oh and we also found hooligan type jackets…and a semi parka!.
..we then went to HMV where we found whatever Les Something…film (Russian Dolls?
!) Jenni was looking for…where we amusingly got the angry look from the man when Jenni first discovered it…”THAT’s IT!”…and of course it was sitting next to good old Rossentrause or however you spell it!
...
and then in the tv section most exciting discovery…A Town Called Panic!..
..after discussing with the counter people we decided that Jenni could take it because they promised they’d get more in…
We then got Lord Of The Fries and caught the train to South Yarra where we walked to the good old Jam Factory, played some more DDR before finding our place alongside the red carpet…look, it’s the guy who plays Warnie on The Wedge…look it’s the 5th Wiggle…look it’s Stingray…look it’s the rejected members of HI-5 etc…look it’s Skye from Neighbours, cue photographer “Excuse me, do you know her name?
”…um sorry do we look like we were excited to see her? Why don’t you ask the screaming/autograph hounding freaks next to us?!
...
oh look it’s Kate Hudson…skinny much?!.
..aw look Owen…
*Owen starts to walk to the opposite side of the red carpet*
Jenni: Owen!
Owen: *turns and approaches us and says in his slow Texan drawl* Hey, how are you?
Jenni: *confused about them being old friends hesistates before saying*…good?
So he was nice and signed her Royal Tenenbaums dvd…and signed my bag…”there’s not much space, sorry”…and we had our photo taken with him etc…and then he was gone…so we walked around to see if he would climb the stairs or take the escalator…(he went escalator) and then it was all over…or was it?
!..
.for some reason this creepy kid film nerd try hard weirdo had selected Jenni and I to share some information he had ‘stumbled’ across with…”You wanna see them again? Carpark.
Third Floor. 10 Minutes.”…we most likely thought we were going to get murdered but there was no harm in going to see right?
...
well I mean apart from the whole possibly getting murdered thing…but we got there and there were all these security guards and shiny black cars and a white limo and stuff…and we were like. Hi, we’re just innocent little children, please don’t hurt us…we were amused by how they all rushed around “oh, there’s movement, oh they’re coming, they’re coming etc”…”hey you, sorry sir, you can’t be here…wait are you a driver?.
..oh sorry Jimmy…hurry up Jimmy”…and we found out the limo was a decoy limo which is cool…oh and ‘Kate’s a smoker’…eventually we managed to lose the creepy kid before playing our final games of DDR – ‘Owen’ The Saints in honour of Owen and I’m Gonna Get You in honour of creepy kid, getting slurpees (no raspberry unfortunately)…and heading home…to be home in time to see them on Rove…Kate changed clothes but Owen was still in what he had been wearing…because he’s cool and low-maitenance…and he loved Rove’s bowl of candy just as Jenni and I had predicted…and he likes Baileys…he and Jenni are perfectly suited!
...
.
It was an early…ish morning on Wednesday as Jenny, Alex, Khia, Wilson and I accompanied Jenni to the airport..
.well when we finally got there…when Alex FINALLY decided on where to park…”I ALWAYS park in L”…we said our goodbyes and it was all very sad…and Alex FINALLY showed some emotion…I didn’t actually cry but I think it’s because I’ve made the decision that I MUST go and visit you/Jenni sometime soon…so you may not know when you’ll be coming back but I WILL see you…yes, so we drove home…and I went to the library and a scary Frankston local said “Looking pretty cool there” as I walked across the street…and an old man got mad at me as I sat in the library and attempted to read the paper and HE wanted the same paper at the same time…whatever. I then went to uni…and walked all the way from Flinders street…and bought some chocolate from Haighs…and had my first Telemedia class…so glad we have Graeme back…and we’re studying exciting stuff…hello Oprah, Passions, The OC, Seinfeld…and “obscure British comedy”…which I had just been thinking how cool if we get to study The Mighty Boosh or Alan Partridge and then…BOOM!
...
we then watched this rather bizarre documentary about people’s early memories of television…I don’t know where they found all those people…but they were ALL freaks…seriously…and they all were cat people…think about it…
So Thursday I left home at 7am and didn’t get home until like midnight…long day no?!.
..I had class at 9:30…but first I’d gotten my free Subway breakfast thing…it was sooo good…and I visited the bookshop and got half of my books…and then had Scriptwriting for Theatre…with the most insane woman on the planet “that’s what Pip would be like as a teacher” but she is just so awesome…even marking the roll was amusing…
Eg.
Karen (insane woman): John Smith?!
John Smith: That’s me…
Karen: *points* HELLO YOU!
And she didn’t even get angry when Stephen, Dan, Amrita and I were just talking instead of doing some class exercise in fact she used us as an example…”These people have already done it so we should all get into groups of 4 and discuss this”…we we’re like…”Sorry what? Interrupting our conversation?!
”
Then I wasted 2 hours sitting with Dan and Christian…and Jenna and the entire Italian Social club in Deep Dish…where the boys were very naughty and attempted to influence Wilson into becoming a smoker…
I then had my theatre studies tute and almost fell asleep…I don’t know if it was that night warm lighting or if it was the boring nature of the way we were reading the play or what…
I then decided that I wanted my “first slice of the crunch” and so I bailed on soccer…whatevs…so after being proposed to on Swanston St we had dumplings and tea and sat around on wooden crates and had chupachups and laughed at my impending doom with my acting capabilities in the short film…and I found out that Panic!..
.were moving to a bigger venue which prompted me to actually CALL Pledge on my phone instead of simply texting…honestly it was that exciting!.
..and then we had our first slice of the crunch…it was as Stephen will put it “visually pretty” or whatever…and despite our expecting breaking porcelain there was none…which wasn’t a let down…oh and there was farting girl which I won’t dwell on for I now feel rather sorry for her and feel bad for having laughed at her…as Wanda Sykes would say “Not HERE!
”…there were arguments about the ‘dashing’ boys in the play before it was time to go home…and we had chocolate because Dan is cool…unfortunately we had to change trains at Richmond for the Frankston Line which led Dan to place his foot firmly in his mouth as we got to the top of the platform and he read the sign and exclaimed loudly “I don’t want the Paki one”…despite the fact he was referring to the Pakenham Line train it was just rather unfortunate that a Pakistani gentleman happened to be standing in front of him at the time…
I considered going to see if the kids were still at Ha’Pennys but decided against it…I was rather tired.
I can’t remember what I did on Friday…but anyways I went to work from 3:30-8 as usual and then Khia came and picked me up (cos she’s cool) and we went to Jenny Brown’s farewell party thing…unfortunately Jenni she finally had the Sean Paul song on cd…and you weren’t there…but I clapped along in your honour!.
..I think I drank too much…including those 3 vodka shots Alex gave me in the space of about a minute but I was feeling fine…that is until they started talking about airports and leaving and then I just lost it…and I finally had the massive teary that I’d been saving up since Wednesday…so I hope that I didn’t ruin people’s fun by being the crying girl but I couldn’t help it…oh and Jenni I also kind of got interventioned…so we’ll see how that goes…and then I went to bed and had to get up in too few hours to go to work…my eyes were just so tired…I didn’t feel sick or anything just like I was about to die from a lack of sleep…oh and huzzah it was a $21 million SUPerdraw that night meaning we’d be hell busy and there were only two of us on…but cos my sister is cool she bought me a raspberry slurpee which helped slightly…and then she booked me in for a massage at lunchtime which I couldn’t have because TARA called in…”ah, I’m not feeling very well”…and I was like well do I sound very well to you?
no because I had begun to lose my voice again and then I had to call the boss in for an hour so Mez and I could have a break and then so there was no massage for me…and that last part might not have made sense but I was angry ok?! Mez and I spent most of the day complaining about people and dreaming about what food we could kill/murder…we really wanted gelato but couldn’t find any in Safeway…boo.
..and I was seriously so tired I thought I’d die before 5pm…I tried crawling into this shelf thing under the couter to sleep…so I was all pscyhed still to go to the FBA ep launch despite feeling I was about to die but then I went home and was like ‘hello bed, you look comfortable I think I’ll just lie down here for a while and…AH!
IT’S 10:30 AT NIGHT AND I’VE MISSED IT’…I was still trying to catch up from the 6am, 2am, 3am bedtimes I’d had all week I think…Sunday I was up early to travel with my parents to visit my Uncle in Benalla for his birthday…so that’s 6 hours of travel and like 2 hours of visiting…we also went to the cemetery to visit both my Grandmothers…and all these other old people that I know…well knew…that I didn’t even know had died…oh yeah I forgot Jake…our old bird…he died on Tuesday…as much as we didn’t get along it was good because I’d made my peace with him that morning…you see he’d been death rattling for a while…so yeah it was weird to be at Babcia’s place…I mean since she died I’ve only been there to gather for funerals…it was weird looking at all the things in her house now…and everything seems so tiny now…like the table and chairs and the cutlery and dinner plates and everything…it’s crazy I know…oh and my Aunty and cousin were there and while we ate cake and bakery products…
My Mother: “Who made them?”
My Aunty: ”I don’t know, some woggy baker”
We told stories about ghosts and weird phenomena etc…before moving onto the justice system before we had to leave…on the way home whilst still listening to Phoenix I was somewhat social and dad and I did cryptic crosswords together…and I finally got a Frosty Fruit…it’s all I crave when I’m sick.
So then I woke up this morning and had a massive list of things to do but got sidetracked by writing my journal…and I have a makeup test and script read through tonight for the short film thing I’m doing…and I don’t want to go to uni tomorrow as my teacher is trying to kick me out of class…and I don’t want to go…and now I have a major headache and neckache…curse you computer…
Word du jour: novelisation (I just can’t pronounce it)…
I've probably forgotten lots of things but whatever!
hah, and my mother used the word "stoop"! Yes, I realised that by the end of Monday I’d watched three separate cases of cross dressing…Osama, To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar…and the play ‘I Am My Own Wife’…it was all unintentional but out of all of them Patrick Swayze and the IAMOW guy were the most disturbing…but it was an exceptionally good play…and the set was rather impressive…although one man shows always make me think of drama solos so then I think of student work…and then I think…well that was absolutely amazing…but enough of that…
Tuesday…after freezing my ass off (I truly did feel like I was in Canada or Alaska but was kept somewhat warm by my inuit coat) I finally arrived at Phillip Island…walked into the house (Did you lock the door Khia?!
...
NOooooo!)…and found everyone still asleep…slackers…no I kid, I kid…well not about them sleeping…so then I assimilated myself into the lying around/eating/drinking/playing buzz/not playing table tennis/cards/arrowwording world which they inhabited…we went to the shops at some point to collect more supplies and terrorise the local newsagency and cheap crap store because as I had promised DarkZone was closed…which is where Jenni found Khia…it’s a dinosaur dog toy which makes the most amazing sound…it’s like they bottled Khia and shoved her in a plastic dinosaur mould…just brilliant…and it was also in this store that delivered what I’m nominating for amusingly bad joke/physical comedy of the year…she stuck a pink toy octopus on her face and says: “Hey guys, I’m Davy Jones”…if you’ve seen pirates you’ll get it…and if you haven’t…well you don’t deserve to…I also found the plastic toy dogs that I want to send in to What The?.
..they also had cats…and lizards…and farm animals…and dinosaurs…ah cheap stores!
...
I know there are more amusing things that happened but I think most of it was just quoting of Tristram Shandy/the knock knock joke/The Mighty Boosh/the ANZ bank ad/I 3 Huckabees/"SPLICES!?"…but I’m a little tired now so I can’t be bothered to elaborate…
Quote du jour: “So Brendan you can either be Pyrrumus(?
! GAH!) or Thisbe…”…”What?
Morpheous?” peas and chicken gravy… Slurpee… Pirate Pearls… Cola Sour Straps… Bread Top… the inane comments from the lady next to me…and witty British and French quotes!.
..
So anyways last Tuesday when I eventually hauled my ass out of bed to return my old videos I went crazy and decided to hire out 8 weeklies for $10 instead of 5 for $7…I’m living on the edge man, there’s no stopping me…these are the kinds of risks I take Jenni when I’m left unsupervised, no safety net!
...
so I rented out:
The Closet
The Dinner Game
Stand By Me
Edward Scissorhands
Osama
Emile
To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything!
Rosemary’s Baby…
And I’m slowly making my way through them…well now I only have two days to watch 5 films because I got distracted by other things in life and also because I watched Stand By Me too many times…
Anyhoo…Wednesday…I went and hung out with Jenni and Khia and we watched some false version of Balto 2 with the voice talent of Sean Astin…not such a wise career move but nonetheless perhaps something his daughter can be proud of/appreciate?!
We then hung out on myspace for a ridiculously long time and I decided I don’t care about page layouts or colour schemes or whatever…so if I ever do get a band that does things I’m totally just gonna be the person that is like ‘sure whatever’, and not argue about creative differences…but filmically creative differences I’ll fight for! I think Kate came to visit to see how I was today…or it was yesterday…I’m not sure…I was sick and she was considerate is the point I’m making!.
..well she was probably hungry too!
...
:P …just kidding!
Thursday belongs to Captain Jack…and as I pointed out to Jenni I’ve realised that it is from Captain Jack that my love of eyeliner stemmed from not from any bands/other idols etc! Jenni and I in our pirately themed clothing went to the post office, bought MANY sugary items from K-Mart – “need a sugar fix girls?
...
it’s ok, we’re allowed it…we’re girls…we need it…that’s what I tell people anyway”…and then we got pizza ropes from Loz…where I was amazed to learn that they use real rolls to post their signs (which Loz made fun of me for on Saturday by poking a hole in one) as she said “Jess, if anyone in the world asked that question, it would be you.”…we then bought Wilson…one of the podgie elephants that have been at my work which I have loved since day one…I had to buy him because there are only 3 left and now they’re reduced people may buy them and noone else was going to buy him for me so I thought I may as well get him now so he could come to the movies with us!.
..then I got ‘smiling passport photos’ and because I’m smart I used the booth and got one with 4 different poses and because I’m smart I posed perfectly the same in two of them and then Jenni jumped in for the other two so now we have cool recent photo booth photos!
Yay us!..
.and the lighting makes us look all cool and the background is all pretty too (and ps. Jenni I’ve realised that the one where we have our hands up it looks like my hand belongs to you and your hand belongs to me…it’s bizarre…but perhaps the photo booth knows we are the same!
) Oh and I purchased the Charlie’s Angels box set thing for $20…and ‘The College Dropout’ by my new good friend Kayne West (you look like Kayne East)…for cheapo too!..
.
Anyhoo then we went to le cinema and saw David as we arrived…and I promised Jenni Mete would be there…and he was…so that was a happy…but brief reunion!.
..Anyhoo the movie amused me muchly…and Johnny Depp gets two very cool entrances in both Pirates films so I’m looking forward to seeing his entrance in the third.
They did reuse a lot of the jokes…but I don’t actually care…I went to be entertained not to be a snooty critic and I was overjoyed *warning here be spoilers*…at the reappearance of Norrington…and of course our favourite Aussie…Geoffrey!..
.and of Gareth and Friend…and I’m officially rambling…
I then went home (*scoffs at memory*)…before going to soccer to watch not play (“Jess, you look better today than Thursday, Thursday you looked a little white”)…and my loyalty was disbanded as I blatantly wanted Karli to win…”Like we were even trying”…”we’re letting them win”…no need to be so rude people…
Friday I finally had my interview…and Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast…and lunch…and after dinner…I also worked…excitement plus. Oh but wait, I realised that our uni results had been released the previous day and so I thought I’d check…I got an H1 for Screenwriting so I was like actually very excited…I haven’t been excited about marks in like…forever…but it was because writing was all I could do and last year my teachers hated me/my work and that made me sad and then now this old man digs my stuff…and because my script was essentially my experience it was very cool that he liked it…well I know what I mean…I didn’t do too badly in my other subjects…I got a H2A for Filmic Text which must mean that my Fincher essay was pretty good to knock up my entire mark from the crappy first attempt at an essay!
...
Saturday I got a paper cut at work, they played Pirates in the afternoon and Cassie’s cheese and bacon roll ‘[tasted] like poison’…and Loz and I had the perfect conversation when I was allowed to use my favourite wheat quote…
Loz: *handing out samples* Here try some…they’re made from delicious wheat!
Jess…well I LOVE wheat!
I then went babysitting and played children’s charades, where Mason blatantly cheated by picking out all the cards with pictures on them…when I confronted him about this he says “look, I’m littler than you, I can’t read…very well”…I also got into an argument with him about sheep vs ram…I then watched some Disney channel and went to sleep with the brightly coloured Disney channel world filling my dreams!
...
Sunday I woke up and bailed home…and went to bed and was about to watch Emile when Nick, Rachel and Hayden came round…so an early Sunday morning drumming session was on the cards!..
.I then sat down again to watch Emile to be interrupted by a text from Jenni accepting an invite to trek into town (aka Melbourne) to go see Tristram Shandy: A Cock Bull Story…
So we braced the football (AFL sadly not football football) hooligans and caught the train to good old Flinders Street where we disembarked and began to search for a Brumbys or a Baker’s Delight…or any form of bakery…apparently the city is too good to have simple bakeries or bakery products around…but then we found Bread Top…it’s like this Chinese bakery place where you get a tray and tongs and it’s marvellous and they have fish fingers in buns…and green buns…and buns with tuna and hotdogs…and chicken donuts and…all kinds of wonderous things!.
...
we then hop along cassidied to Collins Place (not to be confused with Collins House) where we purchased our tickets, ate our bread, marvelled at a Dirt Cheap cd store which wasn’t brimming with people and had space ( the Quadrophenia soundtrack and clerk who discussed ‘earworms’ with us), and perused free postcard stands and pamphlet/flyers…and where Jenni encourage birds to enter the foodcourt and annoy patrons…
(somewhat shocked)“Jenni, what are you doing?”
(determindley)“I’m making friends…”
So apart from the inane commentary (why do I always end up next to them) of the woman beside me it was an altogether enjoyable movie…I’d write quotes here but seeing as how Jenni is the only one to read this…you already know them…because you were there…because you are not an ignorant pleb…you will actually watch a film which isn’t showing at AMC which doesn’t have only American accents in it …and if anyone else is reading this then defend yourself!.
..(although Stephen you are exempt from being an ignorant pleb anyway!
)
Ok, so as most stories end we had slurpees and went home…the end!
I’d elaborate but I’m tired and still haven’t gotten around to watching Emile!
Quotes du jour: “I think today I’m speaking with ellipses…I just feel like I’m…”
“Oh, poo” – thank you for stating the obvious woman, honestly…
“It’s like I’m Gandalf and he’s Frodo”
“You can not take the ring!
” A sentence no parent wants to hear and yet that’s what I told my parents...
True.
Well back to Thursday. My most cultural day in a while.
French film viewing in the morning (which was actually hilarious, I mean I’ve finally found something the French have going for them…comedy…although when I think of French humour I think of North where all they have are Jerry Lewis films on every channel...
but now my small mind has been expanded)…so yes, back to the point: Tais Toi was so hilarious…I never knew Gerad Depardieu was funny...
but he is. Then Jenni and I culturally viewed Mornington Park (damn, we never went back to the museum) before settling into our comfy ergonomically designed extra leg roomy spaced chairs we paid $4.75 for in the Mornington cinemas to watch Wah-Wah…and it turned out to be far funnier than either of us had expected…although we were a little disappointed that there was no Richard E Grant in a green suit…or no cameos by Spice Girls but I mean you can’t have it all.
Then of course there was a bus ride and Charcoal Chicken chips…and gravy…eaten on a park bench…true old school style...
man us kids really knew how to rock it back in the days before automobiles!..
.And I was sugar free for like 43 hours or something..
.but then I got over it and ate the pixie stick thing Jenni bought me!
After some youtubing…and finally seeing the Dave Chapelle skit which is so utterly hilarious…
We had soccer…where I played two games and did far more exercise then my little self is accustomed to.
I then went home and then went back to Jenni’s where we then set off (courtesy of Cindy bestest ever) to the Peninsula Lounge for Gerling…and Starky…the support band that I actually knew A song of…I say I know it from late night/early morning Rage…anyways no one kicks it like Moorooduc on a Thursday night that’s for sure! And mine and Jenni’s therapy session beforehand was rather beneficial I feel!.
..It’s always fun to dance like a lunatic around random people…especially when you’re in a place which serves alcoholic beverages…as people will just assume you’re intoxicated/under the influence!
...
ah crazy eyes!..
..
And yes, so like Jenni I can add Darren from Gerling to my list of people I’ve met…well I mean to the list of people who are famous that I’ve met.
So Friday…not much happened…I got a haircut (which only ever looks good when they style it and then I come home and wash it and it sucks again)…oh yeah and KISSCHASY ROCKED OUT THE PENINSULA LOUNGE! Woot!.
..oh and my nephew being the cutest ever and making me wear a helmet before he let me ride his ‘big red car’ car/bike thing!
Awww! Trial Kennedy were good. And Limbeck just confuse me.
I mean they’re from California (Orange County actually which of course leads to people heckling them asking how Summer and Seth are) but they sound like hicks…well not hicks but they’re like country rock. But they’re just so cute and happy that it’s hard not to get sucked in. Oh and their bass guitarist is like THE most UNrock guy I’ve ever seen and yet…but Kisschasy were awesome as always…what with Daz not wearing shoes (again) and Karl’s cool belt buckle and him snapping drumsticks…and Sean’s Trial Kennedy headband…and Joel’s…Joel…and Daz’s joke which I knew the punchline to as soon as he starting talking despite not having heard his joke before…ah and dancing with Loz…and testing Khia’s lyric knowledge of ‘The Shake’ etc….
but by far the most amazing thing I’ve seen is their final song which was a cover of Tom Petty’s ‘She Wrecks Me’ in which all the members of all 3 bands got on stage and were just playing and singing and dancing and just hanging out having fun. It looked like the most fun ever…and I laughed at this line from Daz “Yeah so I’ve been taking tambourine lessons, so what?!
”…but then it was time to go home…as we all had work the next day…
So I don’t think anything all that exciting happened at work…although I had to have my lunchbreak at 12 which I wasn’t happy about…and I went to use my $5 off Pulse voucher and then was informed I couldn’t because the dvd I wanted to buy was only $12 not $20 like I had thought…you see I’d thought that because THAT WAS THE PRICE ON THE STICKER ON IT! Damn Sanity…but then again I wasn’t so mad I mean it was reduced…and I almost bought the Kayne single for Touch The Sky…and then I chose MC Lars’ ‘Download This Song’ simply for the fact that I wanted to be rebellious and buy the cd instead of downloading it as he had instructed me to…but I didn’t because I wasn’t allowed to use my voucher and I wasn’t spending $5.99 on it…which is a rant I’d like to have…when in the heckfire did cd singles get so expensive?
I mean people don’t buy them anyway so why would you make them MORE expensive? I mean honestly companies get with the program.
But in the afternoon Cass and I had fun as usual drinking V or Red Bull and trying to scrounge up enough money for a pizza rope only to have them sold out…to then try and claim our $5 worth of free bread only to be informed we have to SPEND $5 first to get $5 free…well if we spend $5 and get $5 free then TECHNICALLY WE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO SPEND ANY MONEY ANYWAY!
AH!
Anyways then it was off to the Corner Hotel for yet another Kisschasy gig…as we were driving past some place all the power suddenly went off which freaked us out a little…but isn’t really worth mentioning…but I wanted to…
Sometimes it’s good to be me…when we got there and it had just begun to rain and the line was huge as we began to walk around the corner of the Corner Loz bailed us up and pulled us into line…we ended up being like the 4th people in there or something…no waiting in the cold and the rain for us!
During Trial Kennedy Khia and I sang along…and considering we didn’t know the words we did a pretty good job…and I saw one of the guys from Horsell Common in the audience and so I was watching him when the TK guys played one of their songs…he seemed pretty impressed which is good.
I left Khia and Pledge during Limbeck and went to party on with Loz…the people around weren’t too impressed with this little girl coming and pushing her way through to the first/second row but I mean come on it’s not like you can’t see over me or anything!..
.now as we were on a different side of the stage to Friday night we were right in front of the UNrock looking bassist…and we could see all his haggard ass tattoos up close. He has one of this scary guy with a Mexican moustache and a hat on one arm, and Spring Break ’99 on the other arm…and a tattoo I became fascinated with…as I was pretty sure it was of wheat…which just furthered out obsession with them being hicks and lead to us yelling (we me mainly) after every song and during pauses “I LOVE WHEAT” as loudly as possible.
And of course more stories about Elly May…and “I wrote this song when my best cow Bessie left me”…and “I never thought I’d ever love another man…but then my daddy showed me how…bless his soul…one day I’m gonna get you out of jail daddy”…well it is truly amusing if you were there! I also would just yell out “Yeah” in the Tom voice (from the Mark Tom and Travis show cd) and do rat squeals at random intervals…apparently Khia never heard ‘I LOVE WHEAT’ but she heard my rat squeals! Yay!
So Kisschasy kicked ass once more…and we all thought Daz had stuffed himself with the joke he began to tell…but the sneaky bastard didn’t…and I was also amused by “How good is beer?” *crowd reacts positively yelling, screaming etc.* “Yeah, it’s not bad.
”…and their finally song was upped one notch from the previous night by the UNrock guy appearing in what I guess is his underwear…mentally scarring for sure…after the show Pledge went backstage to see Daz and Tahlia and Khia and I snuck in before the door shut…where we did the official handshake meeting thing which for Khia went something like this:
Tahlia: And this is Ben’s girlfriend Khia.
Khia: *coughs*
Daz: Hi, I’m Darren. *puts out hand*
Khia: I just coughed.
*puts out and then retracts right hand*
Daz: That doesn’t matter.
Khia: *offers left hand*
Daz: *shakes awkwardly*
As we were coming from behind the ‘backstage door’ *ooooh* we saw Loz’s friend Emma who was like “Jess! What are you doing back there?
!”…I just shrugged and said ‘Just hanging out’…Khia was like…”You so should’ve played it up” but I preferred my playing it cool.
On the way out I decided to purchase a Limbeck cd…it was only $15…there were two different albums and I picked the pretty black one with the gold lettering…which turns out was a good choice as it has 3 songs on it that I knew from the shows…and loved.
As I was buying it one of the band members (let’s call him Patrick) was standing off to the side and he points to the cd and says to me in his happy friendly non asshole American way:
“Thanks so much for picking that up.” So for the record he spoke to me first. So then I began talking to him and he ignored the people he’d previously been conversing with who then apparently started/tried talking to Khia and Pledge about how he looked like someone else…anyways our conversation went something like this, in hindsight it was a pretty random sequence of sentences:
Patrick: Thanks so much for picking that up.
Jess: Oh no worries, good show.
Patrick: Oh thank you.
Jess: By the way I just wanted to say that I really like your necklace.
I noticed it last night.
Patrick: Oh thanks, it’s an anchor.
Jess: I know.
Patrick: I want to be a sailor.
Jess: My dad was a sailor.
Patrick: Like a fisherman?
Jess: No, he was in the navy for 35 years.
Patrick: Oh cool.
Jess: Yeah my family lived in America for a year…but it was before I was born.
Patrick: Aw. Yeah well I just want to get like a boat and just go sailing like wherever, whenever you know.
Jess: That sounds cool.
Patrick: Yeah so we can just be like ‘hey let’s go to Africa’ or ‘hey let’s go to China’…
Jess: I’ll come with you.
Patrick: Cool.
Jess: I can like scrub the decks or something for you.
Patrick: No, no, we’ll do it all, we’ll learn it all together.
Jess: Deal. *offers hand*
Patrick: *shakes hand*
And then I don’t remember what happened but we left…but we did shake on it so you know…one day…
On the way home while teasing Khia about how the next day we’d hear that Kisschasy have to cancel the tour because someone made Daz sick Khia also utilised the 40 Year Old Virgin quote for her own purposes ‘Daz is cool, he’s not even gonna remember’…it’s only funny if it’s in the voice.
Well to sum up my past three days I think it’s best if I borrow the words of my good friend Billie Joe:
I sit around and watch the tube, but nothings on. I change the channels for an hour or two, twiddle my thumbs just for a bit, I’m sick of all the same old shit, in the house with unlocked doors and I’m f**kin lazy…
…but also add to that that I watched dvds, listened to my new Limbeck cd, keep having coughing fits which have caused my ribs to be in much pain, had a fever, and those chill things…and not been able to sleep more than two hours, and missed my interview today (damn no 4th of July American themed interview for me :( )
I also finally got around to watching Stand By Me…and seeing Jerry O’Connell so young…and as the fat kid was strange…and young John Cusack was so cute…and River was so alive…and I found it ironic when he was talking about Corey Feldman’s character and he said “He won’t live past 20” or something like that…haha, and young Kiefer also amused me…but not as much as seeing “Rob Reiner” as the director!
Ps.
Word to the wise: NEVER watch the director’s commentary on The Exorcist…I began watching it and then realised that he just tells the story exactly as it’s happening/slightly before it occurs on screen…the only interesting thing I’m pretty sure that would be in the entire commentary is what he explains right at the beginning about how they were allowed to film in Iraq. slightly sarcastic with a good chance of a) indifference and b) disinterest..
.
(in what the critics say)
Well yes, I must say that it must be something about this country which just doesn’t inspire journaling…I’m not really all that Australian, I hate sport, well that’s not true it’s just we don’t get along well…and I’m not totally enamoured with beer and meat pies…but I have embraced the laziness of our culture to the maximum…since I left off I was weighed down with an assignment to hand in and I was Fall Out Boy hoodieless…(my poor cold lobes)…
So that Friday I went to uni earlier than I had meant to because I had to hand in assignment, go to Richmond and get to work at 4pm…and lucky that I always have to be super early everywhere…as I got to uni and the upstairs photography place was locked (stress/panic level:minor)…so I went down to the office which was also locked as they were out to lunch and not expected back until 2pm (stress/panic level: rising) so after contemplating if I should wait the hour and then forgo collecting my hoodie or seeing if I could make it to Richmond and back again and hand in my assignment and return to Frankston in time to go to work I set off on the tram…and changed trams again and made it to bridge road after some minor chitchat (the store was actually busy thank god) I was off to uni again, this time with my fluffy hoodie…yay!.
..and the lady was in the office when I got there and I handed my assignment to her and released my university shackles for a few weeks!
(not that university is something that really ties you down or anything!)…I then worked…and went home…and then went to Nicks where kate and I watched random television and made the T-Shop poster which for some reason we chose not to start until after midnight…wise decision seeing as how we both had to work the next day…and didn’t end up going to bed til like 3am…whatevs!
Saturday the whatever of June was THE most fun work day ever!
...
I made an emo smile (like one of those proper emos that are all sad and one eyed and fingerless gloved and long fringed and all black wearing and everything…it was probably the first time he’s ever smiled since becoming a little emo!)…and I found these Billie Joe paper doll things that I want from the back of a magazine…and all we did was eat…and eat…and drink…and make showbags and have fun with our Brumbys friends…and I made hairties out of the bread tie things and…well I could go on but I won’t…but luckily after work I found my favourite juice from Safeway (it was cheaper than usual too! Yay!
) and got a Caesar Salad and took that all to my brothers house along with ‘pinky’, ‘jammy’ and ’muffy’…all leftover bakery products from our afternoon feeding…good thing I did too because I had to end up staying at my bro’s house an extra day!..
.it was so good not doing anything for 3 or four days or whatever it was…I just watched Jackass and That 70’s Show and ate bakery products and chips and drank juice and was all warm and snugly in my doona…perhaps I’m going to have to reconsider my old plans to become a hermit…
Anyways I eventually returned to the real world and I’m pretty sure that all I’ve done is shop, go out to Jacks/Davies/Ha’pennys, go to the movies, watch dvds, hang out with people…oh and bake and emo cake and go iceskating…and get a double bed (yay! Thanks Alex!
) – by the way because I refuse to make the decision which will dictate my future I only sleep in the middle of the bed so as to not have to make a decision about which side I sleep on!
So here are short snippets of each film/place:
DAVIES: We (as in team JJJ) danced…for like 3.5 hours straight…and I had boots on…I was rather impressed…and the guitarist had a glittery guitar…muchos cool…and the old man who was standing next to the ‘stage’ was very humourous (perhaps someone’s father I assumed!
)…
Ha’Pennys: “We’ll just stay for a little while”…”Yeah, I’m pretty tired from last night”…ha!..
.after eventually getting in – they had the nerve to question my learners for like 5 minutes while all Jenni’s Florida driving licence copped was “We don’t like Yanks here”…but I did talk back to the bouncer guy as I quipped “Would you like me to spell my last name?”…well I was impressed by myself!
...
so when we got kicked out as they turned all the lights on we finally decided it was time to go home after spending the longest time talking about life, the universe and everything…but it did make me even sadder that they were both (Jenny and Jenni) going to desert me soon…*tear*…so after scaring the crap out of Warneke by running across the street at him at 3am and launching myself on him we went to wait in the taxi rank and went home…the end!
Jacks: I tell you it’s just a Peninsula/Mt Eliza reunion every week…but we were amused by all the Parkas everywhere and by ‘Wang boy’ who appeared to know EVERY SINGLE person…he stood by the doorway and hugged people as they entered…but where were our hugs I ask you?!
As for movies wise:
Cars: So much funnier than first anticipated…and it has fast become the most commonly quoted movie of the past few weeks…but I was CRYING with laughter at the animation ‘One Man Band’ before hand…and at the intertextuality of the closing credits (yeah go film student/postmodern studying terminology)!..
.Pitstop has now become something we use instead of a question mark…and of course ‘Kachow’ or whatever it is!.
..and Mater impersonations are right up there…ah memories!
...
Click: I saw this with my sister…and it was the first Adam Sandler movie she’s cried in…I didn’t…but I could’ve…oh how I love Christopher Walken and his typecasting as the crazy but loveable guy!..
.he even was wearing Cons…aww…it was funnier than I had expected and of course seeing Sean Astin was exciting…and yet ‘ew’ at the same time…you’ll understand what I mean if you’ve seen it…if not, lucky you.
Over The Hedge: Hilarious.
That is all I have to say…”I like a cookie” has now been accepted in our vocabulary along with “Pray?!”…attempting to assign people characters gets difficult…everyone though Alex was Hammy (squirrel) because of the whole teeth thing and made Khia be Verne (turtle) but this was before we saw the film…where Jenni and I felt that it became painfully clear that Khia was Hammy (“I’m not allowed to have this” – about the caffeine – remember the horses Khia?
!). Jenni had to be the Ozzie (possum) because he was rather theatrical…and I felt that I was more Verne than anyone else but then Khia was convinced I was whatever the hell the skunk’s name was!
...
oh and Khia was also assigned the big dumb dog…who thankfully was unlike most animated dogs who are big and scary and evil.
Fast The Furious: Tokyo Drift: All I have to say about this film is that any movie which stars the little hick kid from The War all grown up which uses Justin Timberlake as an insult and credits someone as “Exceedingly Handsome Man” can’t be all that bad…plus I’m a sucker for car movies…I mean it’s something I don’t understand seeing as how I don’t drive/have no interest in driving…go figure…it must be something which rubbed off after all these years of being related to my brother.
If you go to Jenni’s journal you will see the marvellous emo cake which we made…we are genius…it’s true…
So yes we went iceskating…which was lucky…we almost didn’t get to go…but I maintain it was Jenny Brown’s sweettalking ways with the nerd which got us in…I’d elaborate but I have to go collect Jenni in half an hour to go see “Wah-Wah” and I’m detoxing from my sugar high so I have very little patience to come back and continue this journal at a later date…but I probably will come back and add things later…I haven’t had any sugar in 37.
5 hours…and my head really hurts…and my fingers are just a LITTLE BIT FREEZING!..
.ps. I didn't know that Gerad Depardeiu (or whatever) was so freaking hilarious!
Stephen you have to still be my friend because I’ve finally gotten around to filling this out…yahoo for me!
