Looks like Jamie T's people thought the original monkey video for Sheila wasn't mockney enough for the American market, so it has been shot again with Bob Hoskins walking along the Thames singing Jamie T's words. Watch the horror below. Oh dear.

[img] From a stack of fifty songs, Switches have wittled down their impressive repertoire to this debut twelve track LP.

Singles 'Message From Yuz', 'Drama Queen' and 'Lay Down The Law' (in an unfulfilling new version) are present along with a batch of live favourites from their recent tours. What distinguishes Switches from the myriad guitar-based four-pieces out there at the moment? Very little actually, except that, rather than copy the leading lights wholesale as many seem to do, Switches have plucked some of the finer facets of other bands and combined them - [.

The Coople Temple Clause have announced they are to split.

In a statement to the band's fans guitarist Dan Fisher wrote, "It is with a sad and heavy heart that I must announce that The Cooper Temple Clause have decided to split up. Last week I informed the rest of the boys that I would be leaving the band. As I hope you will all be able to understand, it was perhaps the most difficult decision I have ever had to make.

" Formed in Reading, The Cooper Temple Clause rose to reasonable fame at the [...

[img] Hitting a chord with seemingly everybody last year, the Arctic Monkeys debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' became the fastest selling debut album ever in the UK. Hitting at a time when indie music had replaced hip hop and r'n'b as number 1 on the Radio 1 playlist, the conditions were excellent for these new heroes to break through. Indie is arguably even more popular in 2007 as the band deliver their sophomore effort, but are the tunes, lyrics and concepts as strong or have the band burnt out, [.

The next LCD Soundsystem single to be taken from the excellent 'Sound of Silver' will be 'All My Friends', to be released over two 7" singles, a 12" and a CD.

The exciting news is that James Murphy has quite literally called on some of his friends for the release. Both Franz Ferdinand and John Cale have recorded cover versions of the track and each will appear on one of the 7" singles. Franz also contribute a track 'Freak Out / Starry Eyes' to the CD and 12" versions while the only actual new LCD Soundsystem material [.

As reported yesterday, Arctic Monkeys have been selling copies of their album like proverbial hot-cakes (even if the cakes in question don't seem quite as fresh as they did last year) and, coupled with the new chart rules for single tracks, there is every chance of there being no less than fifteen Arctics tracks in the UK Top 200.

Album favourite and tip for the next single, 'Fluorescent Adolescent' is currently hovering outside the Top 40 and may sell enough to join 'Brianstorm' there on Sunday. Elsewhere, ex-number one 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' continues [..

While it may look like one of the worst pop concert line-ups in living memory, this summer's memorial concert for the late Princess Diana does not have a place for grizzled, craggy-faced, Canadian, soft-rockin' eunuch Bryan Adams. Apparently Adams had 'a short relationship' with the Princess shortly before her death and his appearance may be seen as inappropriate.

We believe this is merely an excuse and the real reason is that he's just simply hack-your-ears-off shit. 'Quality daily' The People have run the following quote from 'a source', "The princes [William and Harry who are organising [..

Arctic Monkeys new album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare', the follow up to 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', looks unlikely to match the success of their debut. The second album recorded impressive first day sales of 60,000, however this is a full 40,000 copies less than their first as it steamrollered its way to number one last January. New single 'Brianstorm' failed to hit the top spot last week too, beaten by a limp Beyonce and Shakira duet, and it does seem that the band are losing fans among the young and impressionable and the nation's [.

[img] The man widely tipped to be the Dylan of his generation returns with his second album, and with it comes perhaps a little too much expectation.

His debut, ‘Where the Humans Eat’ was a bit of a stunner, brimming with youthful passion and punching holes in perceptions of modern America. ’When the Ocean gets Rough’ is not like that. And it is easy at first to assume that it is not as good.

It starts with Gotta keep walking. This is a bit of a tease, mirroring Gotta keep moving, the title track from Humans. [.

Damon Albarn has announced that Gorillaz are to appear in a full-length film which they hope to begin working on in September.

Hoewever, he has also stated that there will be no more pop albums from the cartoon quartet and that the final musical output from the brand will be the film soundtrack. The as yet unnamed movie will see the four Gorillaz characters - 2-D, Murdoc, Noodles and Russel - playing four brand new characters in a great post-modern twist typical of creator Jamie Hewlett. It is not clear where Albarn will go next.

So, just over twelve months on from the release of the fastest-selling British album of all-time, are we any closer to the poser posed by these erstwhile Sheffield lads? I mean, for of the hyperbole and the fawning accolades festooned upon them by broadsheets looking for a bit of rough, tabloids looking for a bit of gossip and the NME looking for something to buoy their internet-fuelled decline, are we really any closer to finding out just who the fuck are Arctic Monkeys? Or are we?

More importantly, should we? The vast majority of people [..

Dingwall’s is an odd venue. It’s right in the heart of Camden Lock, so the major proportion of indigenous inhabitants are young persons (even by my standards, so they are as little as it is possible to be while still being legal to drink) all looking like they walked out wearing Top Shop’s bargain bin and their mother’s thirty-year-old shoes (especially the blokes). However, unlike other ‘hip’ venues, you can still find the occasional bewildered-looking old man local type, who spends the whole evening awkwardly tapping his feet, and looking as though he’s wondering what happened to the [.

Good Shoes + Vincent Vincent and the Villains + The BBC Mean Fiddler!

My previous experience of said venue being: home to the worst rock night I’ve ever been to, although admittedly I don’t think I was wearing enough black on that occasion to filter the sound correctly, so it’s probably my fault. What I found particularly engaging on this occasion was that almost the entire audience were still at the stage where they jostle subtly to try to get to the front of the crowd so they can be near the band, even though it means [..

Brighton's latest psychedelic electro-rockers My Federation release their new single 'Honey Bee' on April 30th, a monumentous step in the right direction for music. Sounding like Kasabian being tutored by The Aliens, 'Honey Bee' fits in perfectly in these baggy-revival times and shows countless 'new rave' chancers just what they should be sounding like.

It also boasts the finest buzzing bee intro since The Scientist's classic 'The Bee' single. Click the Youtube video above for a taster and check it out in higher quality with the stream links [..

The Twang will follow up the Top 40 success of 'Wide Awake' with the rather groovy 'Either Way' and they've already recorded the promo video. 'Either Way' makes full use of the band's unique double vocal set up - one part dreamy spoken recollections to one part soaring anthemic chorus.

The Monochrome Set - Jet Set Junta "Indie Bands" eh, the charts full of 'em.

T'monkeys to your left Ferdinands to your right, you can't jab a pointy stick around the top ten without impaling a top indie pop combo. But it has hasn't always been like that. It wasn't that long ago that the thought of an intelligent guitar band nestling up to your disco divas or soft rock balladeers within the confines of the glorious top twenty (or even top [.

One wonders when T in the Park organisers will offer the option of trading your blindly-bought 'Early Bird' tickets for entrance to the vastly superior Connect festival.

The latest batch of additions to the T in the Park bill have been announced and things are looking bleaker and bleaker for music fans - the line-up now reading more like a Prince's Trust mime-a-thon than a rock festival. A little something for feisty teenage girls and fumbly teenage boys - yes, Avril Lavigne will be at Balado this year. Heavily into romantic comedies?

Well, the king of [...
