* Desmond was given an opportunity to change things, but he was course-corrected and didn't change anything. * Yes, he really did go back in time and relive those events, and change some events. * This "flashback" took place before he was discharged from the military, and Mr.
Widmore's comment about having any military experience may have made him join the army. * When the old ring lady says that if Desmond doesn't go to the island and push the button we'll all die, she meant the entire world. *Juliet was not looking at her own X-Rays that Alpert shows her.
No time-travel for Juliet. * All the big mythology stuff has been worked out, but the intricacies of how it will play out has not necessarily been planned. The writers knew that Desmond would be pushing the button and saving the world, and would eventually use the fail-safe key, and then eventually wind up with special powers, but the part in between about the time-traveling flashback hadn't been at that point.
For instance, then had Penny's picture when Desmond was introduced (not the same actress at that point, though that has been corrected) so they knew that Penny would play a part later on. * The teddy bear being dragged by one of the children in "..
.And Found" is no reference to "The Lost Boys" and we'll see that teddy bear again.

Some answers as to if Desmond really did go back in time or not. Not that this answer Is particularly useful; opening up a whole new myriad of questions about who the ring lady was, or what implications his changes will have. Or the fact that both Penelope and Desmond have a copy of the picture, but Desmond took the one from his "flashback.
" Is there some kind of parallel dimension thing going on? Once again, some implications are made about the significance of events happening on the island directly affecting events in the real world, but now we have to ask, what is the real world?
