"Just getting experienced guys back out there is good. Even if they only play a dozen plays, that will help." Auburn's offense will need to be more consistent, Tuberville said, if it is to have success against LSU's powerful defense.
"(LSU) and Florida are probably the two best we've seen," Tuberville said. "You just have to be patient, know what your strengths are, know what you might be able to take advantage of and execute. Execution is critical.
We are executing better, but last week we were just inconsistent. We'd do well for 4-5 plays, then somebody would make a mistake. We can't do that this week.
" The Tigers practiced for just more than an hour Thursday, going out early because of a forecast of rain. "We worked mostly on the kicking game and some special things we are thinking about doing," Tuberville said. ".
.. Today was more of a walkthrough than anything.
We practiced real hard Tuesday and Wednesday. We pulled them back in terms of physical contact. We're jsut trying to make sure everybody is mentally ready to go.
" In his third season as LSU's coach, Les Miles has a 28-5 record. Tuberville says he deserves credit for maintaining the program left by Nick Saban. "He kept it going," Tuberville said.
"That's the main thing. When you inherit something, you try to keep it going and build on it. He's done a good job of doing that.
All these jobs are hard. It's even harder when you come in and the expectations are for a national championship because you already have a lot of players on the team. He's done a good job with it.
" The Auburn travel party will leave from Columbus, Ga., on Friday at 3 p.m.
, arriving in Baton Rouge just more than an hour later. It'll be a long wait for Saturday's 8 p.m.
kickoff. "We're going to get back down there and kick back for a couple of days," Tuberville said. "That's how long it will be.
