"I don't even know anyone on stage there anymore. It doesn't matter, it's still my family, it's still where I go and they support you throughout. I don't' do that in California, I had to find a new family," she said.
"I never, ever in my wildest dreams could've imagined a life that I have," said actress Joan Cusack. "Without having been there, and been encouraged and supported and empowered by that workshop." Thomas taught school in Chicago.
She won an Emmy for her work on HSB. She said she still treasures the time she spent honing her craft here. "We dared her to get up on stage, we dared her to take classes," said Joyce Sloane, Second City.
"She was a waitress at Second City." "I said, I'm gonna do every scene I can with the big dudes in the company," Thomas said. "With Bill Murray and John Candy and those guys.
I'm gonna stay in their scenes and I'm gonna fight for a line here or there. And literally, that's what it's like. Thomas has moved into the director's chair now, for movies including 'The Brady Bunch' and 'Dr.
Dolittle.' One of her next projects is "Valley of the Dolls: The Relapse.
