There has been four fires in the last 18 months, as well as one in an adjoining block. Peter Palmer's son Christopher lives in the flats and says residents are sick of the serial arson. "These fires are always on a Friday or Saturday night.

They are started deliberately by someone putting some form of accellerant in the bins. "Residents are dreading the weekends in case there is another fire." During the last fire,on September 8, Amber Brooks, her son Llewellyn Morgan and neighbour Hannah Smith fled their homes.

Ms Brooks said: "It was terrible. I rushed to my little boy's room and luckily his door and window was closed or it could have been much worse." Inspector Ailsa Quinlan of Surrey Police said: "Local neighbourhood support officer Sarah Campbell is working with her team and residents to try to identify the people responsible as we are very concerned at the repeat of these serious offences.
