5) Vodka To The Rescue! The next time someone tells you to ease up on the Stoli, you tell them it could save your life. Doctors in Australia reportedly kept an Italian man alive by drip feeding him vodka after he attempted to kill himself.
The 24-year-old tourist was admitted after drinking ethylene glycol, a poison contained in anti-freeze, in an apparent suicide attempt. When supplies of the antidote (medicinal alcohol) ran out, he was switched over to good old-fashioned vodka, which was drip-fed "about three standard drinks an hour for three days ." Luckily for him he was in a coma at the time and missed out on what would no doubt have been an epic hangover.
